America's coming civil war -- makers vs. takers
Fox News ^ | Published July 12, 2012 | Arthur Herman

Posted on 11/07/2012 3:51:00 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

Abe Lincoln used those words in 1858 to describe a country that was careening toward civil war. Now we’re a house divided again and another civil war is coming, with the 2012 election as its Gettysburg.

Call it America’s coming civil war between the Makers and the Takers.

On one side are those who create wealth, America’s private sector–the very ones targeted by President Obama’s tax hikes announced Monday.

On the other are the public employee unions; left-leaning intelligentsia who see the growth of government as index of progress; and the millions of Americans now dependent on government through a growing network of government transfer payments, from Medicaid and Social Security to college loans and corporate bailouts and handouts (think GM and Solyndra).

Over the past century America’s private sector has been the source of productivity, innovation, creativity, and growth–and gave us the iPhone and iPad. The public sector has been the engine of entitlement, stagnation, and decline -- and gave us Detroit and the South Bronx.

The private sector built the strongest economy in the world. It armed the free world in World War Two, and then in the three decades after the war turned America into the most prosperous society history had ever seen. It revived America in the Reagan and Clinton years, and thanks to the Bush tax cuts brought this country back from economic collapse after 9/11.

In those same years a growing public sector, by contrast, turned Europe into a cesspool of debt, stalled economies, and chronic social dysfunction that’s set the streets of Athens -- and perhaps other European capitals--on fire.

That’s where we’re headed, too, more rapidly than we like to think.

Ok then, tell me how much does NY get from other states via the fedgov?

You said we are a taker state. Tell me how much more we take in then we send out.

Now don’t misunderstand me...NY is still a leftist infested and leftist run hell hole politically and as a result does great harm to the United States..

We elect and send to Washington some of the most evil left wing dirtbags you can imagine (IE: Shumer, Hillary Clinton, Louise Slaughter, etc) and we consistently vote for rats for President.

That makes NY a pox on the country, but it doesn’t make us a “taker state” in regards to funding.

You’ve got to hate us for the right reasons!

I suggest that you start by considering the Republican majority that easily was re-elected in the house.

Thinking doesn’t come easy, does it!

You’re right Nik, NY and California are heavy donor states.

From various comments I’ve read, plus mother wit, it’s clear that 0bastard “won” due to massive, massive fraud.

It’s now an Official Coup.

Didn’t you mention that you’ve cured tooth root abcesses by chewing garlic?

We were fishing off the beach at a local park. About twenty 50’sh people showed up to “watch the sun go down”. They asked me why I was fishing and what for? I drove 500 miles to fish there and these idiots not only lived on this lake but had no idea there were fish in it.

Reminded me of when I was a kid in Whidbey, Washington during the 70's. Went to the beach and threw a shrimp into the water. 15 minutes later here comes a fish and all the people who lived there were in shock. We caught as many as 70 fish in one day at times and gave all these retired libs fresh fillets for ten years. My life has taught me people are just stupid and lazy. My wife hates it but I am sick of the human race. Even some of my and her family. After this election I'm convinced only blood will cleanse stupidity.

I have used garlic for oral infection, but the most effective attack on a root abscess is a ‘Hulda’ zapper.

It penetrates to the abscess easily, and the pulsed 30 KC
dc current is quite effective on bacteria.

I know exactly what you mean, and on Whidbey in particular.

MY Ex’s folks moved to Whidbey in ‘72, and we went fishing and clam digging there plenty of times.

The clam digging did really puzzle the local kids.

They kept asking how we knew where to drive the tube in.

They had a place on Double Bluff Rd in Freeland.

The Federal government is a black hole. The money that goes in is always more than is ejected back out to the states. The money is wasted on parasites called bureaucrats who always vote Dem. So, of the 60k spent on welfare slugs, 22k goes to the slug and 38k goes to the government parasites.

I grew up in Mutiny bay. We use to crab, fish and clam until I headed off to Alaska.

We use to fish all the private ponds that had rainbow trout stocked in them. we’d sneak in and if caught just open the bail on our fishing reels and run. Had a bit of rock salt shot from a 12 gauge hit me in the back once.

Some were on or near Double bluff. Raden family and the Wall farm properties.

I know now we were nothing but thieves.

True, here in the Pittsburgh area, I can drive out 20 minutes into the country and see cows. B-) Agricultural is huge here.

No idea what your point is. The electoral college is a facet of the union.

If you aren't in the union the first thing you have to do is hold a constitutional convention, whether it is one state or several. One of the top priorities has to be voting reforms.

When the union was made voting was limited to people with skin in the game. Now every deadbeat that can fog a mirror can register the most incoherent vote imaginable to the point that the current president himself has never had a real job.

You want to continue down that road? Listen, if it makes you feel better to sulk and do nothing, enjoy. But I am not joining your pity party.

Thank you!

And what everyone is discussing is not a civil war. A civil war is when factions fight over control of the country or central government. What you are discussing is a group wanting to secede from the central government and go its own way. Two different things.
