Yes, Newt was a candidate but he is a flawed candidate who cannot win.

Sadly no Republican was going to defeat the first black POTUS in a reelection bid. Romney did a fine job of trying and got close but we see some Republicans stayed home from 2008. We know from reading Freeper comments some of those reasons included hate of the GOPe, Mormonism and liberal views espoused when running against Ted Kennedy nearly 20 years ago.
