No wonder John McCain's policies are incoherent. He digests this stuff while also claiming to be a Reaganite. The problem is, many people in his own party aren't buying it, let alone conservatives. Many of the problems Brooks sites to promote his view were made worse by big government. Can anyone seriously point to any major sector of our economy where the government hasn't insinuated itself in a significant way? Talking about Disraeli and TR as if 100 years and more of government intervention hasn't transpired — such as the New Deal, the Fair Deal, the Square Deal, the Great...

Friday, June 27, 2008 Posted By:Catherine MoyPermalinkTHANK YOU AMERICA!!!!! We’ve topped $1.1 Million for Our Troops!!!!! It is the day after our webathon and I am still numb from the stunning, selfless generosity of America. Our historic - and risky - webathon brought together the best in high-tech Ustream.tv, stars like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Gold Star parents and thousands upon thousands of Americans who REALLY support our troops. I want to apologize for failing to get a blog up as we went last night and yesterday. So many folks were participating on line that I...

I am compelled to come to John McCain’s defense against George Will’s column today. With respect to the five justices conferring standing on alien, unlawful, enemy combatants to seek habeas review in federal district courts, Will writes, in part: As such, the Supreme Court’s ruling only begins marking a boundary against government’s otherwise boundless power to detain people indefinitely, treating Guantanamo as (in Barack Obama’s characterization) “a legal black hole.” And public habeas hearings might benefit the Bush administration by reminding Americans how bad its worst enemies are. That “black hole” was neither created yesterday nor by George Bush. It...

Mark Levin pens another cogent analysis in dissenting against George Will's column and the latest Supreme Court assertion of governmental branch supremacy. Within, Mark says: And that "black hole" exists for two primary reasons: 1. to detain unlawful and lawful combatants until the end of hostilities, thereby keeping them off the battlefield where they can kill American soldiers and, in the case of terrorists, kill civilians (as they have extended the battlefield to our cities); and 2. to interrogate the detainees to secure information that might save the lives of American soldiers and civilians. Now, it seems to me that...

In case you missed it, the Supreme Court Thursday bestowed Constitutional rights to terrorists currently held at Guantanamo Bay. The broadcast evening news programs predictably saw this as a stinging defeat for the Bush administration. Conservative radio talk show host and constitutional lawyer Mark Levin stated that reporters making such statements "are lying through their teeth. They are propagandists, spewing the talking points of the enemy." Levin took the Supreme Court to task for this ruling as well as the predictable standing ovation from the MSM. He said denying foreign enemy combatants access to U.S. courts is an incident of...

EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT! Written by Melanie Morgan Thursday, 05 June 2008 The rest of the country is now being notified in press releases and emails what I have been hinting at on this website for the past few days. The impossibly funny, smart, warm and intellectually driven Ann Coulter is going to join us in the live broadcast "From the Frontlines" on June 26th at HotAir.com presented by Move America Forward, UStream.tv and Kithbridge, Inc.Liberals HATE Ann Coulter. Conservatives LOVE Ann Coulter. Most folks, though, don't know a side of her that I do. Ann is unstintingly generous in giving support to...

...And the topic was probably not politics (they’re poles apart, personally), but business – and Hannity’s looming opportunity next week to start the process of leaving ABC Radio Networks. That’s if he wants to. And I think Citadel CEO Suleman was trying to explain the reasons why Sean should stay. Among them (and I’m guessing here): continued association with the storied call letters of WABC, WLS, KABC, etc. Will that be enough, followed up by serious expressions of monetary interest like a whale-sized signing bonus? We’ll find out by next Thursday. But I hear from two sources that Hannity and...

All right, 630 WMAL fans! Here's the latest scoop from the DCRTV.org blog [i.e. "rag"]-- Hannity To 3WT? TNT's Talkers To MAL & 3WT? - 6/3 - When we asked a top 3WTer about whether the Bonneville talker was talking to afternoon righty talk radio icon Sean Hannity, we were met with dead silence. Not a denial. Which makes us really wonder if there's some truth to the rumors that Hannity may soon be bolting from Citadel's family of stations, including WMAL. Also, it appears that Hannity could be talking to Fox or Premiere or Mark Masters about taking over...

Conservative radio talk show host and Constitutional lawyer Mark Levin on Friday called for MSNBC to suspend Keith Olbermann as a result of his deplorable remarks concerning American soldiers and President Bush. As my colleague Brad Wilmouth reported [0], Olbermann on Wednesday's "Countdown" "accused the President of 'panoramic and murderous deceit,' and of 'creating' an America that 'includes cold-blooded killers who will kill people to achieve their political objectives.'" This didn't sit well with Levin who on Friday gave Olbermann the tongue-lashing his employers at MSNBC would give him if they possessed any shred of decency or common sense (audio...

... I listened last night to syndicated talk-radio host Mark Levin report the breaking news that an Iraqi-American had been indicted as a spy. In addition, he stands accused of secretly funding the October 2002 pre-invasion trip to Iraq of three antiwar House Democrats, Congressmen Jim McDermott (D-WA), Mike Thompson (D-CA), and David E. Bonior (D-MI, now retired). I first posted a clip of that audio on MarkLevinFan.com and then I followed the money. Always follow the money. You just think that you have read all where it led in this case.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., and CNN's 9/11 memorial tribute (Click on the image)At length, syndicated talk-radio host Mark Levin took Senator Barack Obama to task for his two decades of attending the Reverend Jeremiah Wright's hate-filled sermons (an audio excerpt and more commentary after the jump).

Over the weekend, Paul did a post that talked about demands that some conservatives are making on John McCain as the soon-to-be Republican nominee. I added some comments of my own; it's fair to say that both Paul and I are skeptical of the reasonableness of such demands. That prompted an email from talk radio host Mark Levin, the subject heading of which was "John, Did You Actually Mean to Write This?" This initiated an exchange between Mark and me, which, with Mark's permission, I'm reproducing below: John, did you actually mean to write this? If there are conservatives who...

The conservative talk-show community? Don't mind them -- they're irrelevant. This message from John McCain surrogates and other members of the political class is filling the airwaves and op-ed pages. In the Wall Street Journal, Weekly Standard Executive Editor Fred Barnes recently wrote that McCain needn't worry that conservatives are uncomfortable with his candidacy, because "while they love to grumble and grouse, conservatives tend to be loyal Republicans who wind up voting for their party's candidate." In the same pages, novelist Mark Helprin, a former adviser to Robert J. Dole's presidential campaign, savaged conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity...

On Monday's Mark Levin Show: Mark discusses the Constitution and what John McCain would do to it - especially the 4th and 5th amendments. Do we really want John McCain to give al Qaeda terrorists Constitutional rights? McCain has spent 20 years destroying the Republican party - and we're just supposed to give in right now? Rush Limbaugh calls in live and discusses an e-mail that Bob Dole sent him regarding why he should support John McCain. Rush gives analysis on the letter, and where Bob Dole is wrong, and what parts of McCain’s record he overlooks. Also, National...

In their attempt, in a Weekly Standard article, to defend Senator John McCain’s elevation of senatorial privilege over efforts by the Bush administration and the Right to get conservative judges confirmed, Adam White and Kevin White miss important points, simultaneously providing an incomplete version of history. ~snip~ Thus, they intimate that Frist was actually relieved by the Gang of 14 deal and suggest he encouraged it behind the scenes. Of course, had it been as the authors suggest, there would have been no need for a Gang of 14 deal. Frist would not have pressed the issue, and the Senate...

This is incredible. Mike Huckabee accuses Sean Hannity, who has announced he will vote for Mitt Romney on Tuesday, of being influenced by Bain Capital, which Huckabee says owns Sean's network — Clear Channel. First, the facts. Bain is trying to buy Clear Channel, or parts of it. Clear Channel does own many radio stations. Sean appears on many of their stations, as do many of us. But Sean's syndication partner is ABC Radio Networks, which was recently acquired by Citadel Broadcasting. So, not only does Huckabee get his facts wrong, like most conspiracy kooks, he makes a scurrilous charge...

The Insanity that has taken over on this forum, when it comes to the potential GOP nominees, is bordering on Psychotic. 1. John McCain and Mitt Romney are both good and decent men. 2. Either one being the GOP nominee is a far cry better then the Surrender Monkeys on the other side. I only ask that we do not stray into that Liberal arena of Personal destruction. I have listened to Sean and Rush and I blame them for engaging this tactic in our party. We should never have to tear one candidates record down to promote the other....

I have spent nearly four decades in the conservative movement — from precinct worker to the Reagan White House. I campaigned for Reagan in 1976 and 1980. I served in several top positions during the Reagan administration, including chief of staff to Attorney General Edwin Meese. I have been an active conservative when conservatism was not in high favor. I remember in 1976, as a 19-year-old in Pennsylvania working the polls for Reagan against the sitting Republican president, Gerald Ford, I was demeaned for supporting a candidate who was said to be an extremist B-actor who couldn’t win a general...

I don't think most conservatives are interested in McCain’s class ranking at Annapolis or how many planes he was nearly killed in. There have been a few posts here mentioning it. And I appreciate all the references to Reagan's efforts to advance his agenda, which did involve making compromises with a Democrat House and, throughout most of his presidency, a Democrat Congress. And if John McCain showed this kind of temperament and vision in his political career, I don't think most who object to his candidacy during the primaries would be objecting to it today. I think we would be...

While John McCain has risen to the top of the heap among contenders for the Republican presidential nomination, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson remains adamant that he will not support McCain’s bid for the White House. Dobson, one of the nation’s most influential evangelical Christians, declared more than a year ago that he wouldn't support McCain under any circumstances, saying McCain didn't support traditional marriage values. A Dobson spokesman told the New York Times’ David Kirkpatrick Wednesday that he stood by that position, and as a matter of conscience could never vote for the Arizona Senator. According to...

John McCain heads into Tuesday's Florida primary facing resistance from not only his fellow candidates, but also from the leaders of conservative talk radio, who some suggest have put their reputations on the line, as well. Talk radio pioneer Rush Limbaugh said that if McCain or Mike Huckabee are nominated, "it's going to destroy the Republican Party." Mark Levin calls the senator "John McLame." On Monday, Laura Ingraham said she was "concerned about the mental stability of the McCain campaign" and had cuckoo-clock sound effects accompany his words. "Sen. McCain is a great American, a lousy senator and a terrible...

The hard-driving Tim Russert blew it. He allowed McCain to slip away with his dishonest characterization of Romney's statement, i.e., Romney never said he favored a specific time for withdrawal. McCain read the first part of the quote but not the second part, where Romney would veto a congressional time table. By now, everyone who is carefully following this knows that McCain's allegation is flatly false. ... On another note, a rumor is making the rounds that Fred Thompson will endorse John McCain tomorrow. I checked with somebody extremely close to the situation. Fred said the other day that he...

Since McCain and his surrogates insist on making this a big issue, let's engage them. They are dissembling about what Romney said. I have provided quotes below. We have now heard from Woolsey, who is repeating the disinformation. And we have now viewed the video-tape, which clears Romney of the allegation, i.e., he did not call for a specific time to withdraw our troops. Now, if this is the big bombshell the McCain campaign is using in the days before the Florida vote (albeit people are casting votes throughout via absentee ballots), it's pretty disgraceful stuff. Even the Associated Press...

As I understand Victor Davis Hanson’s position, those of us who believe John McCain will cause severe damage to the conservative movement and the Republican party should hush up, or at least calm down, for this electoral juggernaut, who has managed to get 33 percent of the vote in South Carolina (despite backing by most of the establishment there) and is strong on the war in Iraq. And if we continue to bring attention to those issues that concern us — which are not insignificant to anyone who has worked in conservative circles for nearly 40 years — then we...

With all due respect, this is absurd on many levels. If John McCain is nominated and loses, it is because he doesn’t appeal to enough Americans, including the base that he has repeatedly betrayed (as Thomas Sowell puts it) over a long period of time. The suggestion that McCain and McCain alone is capable of fighting this war, given his experience, seems to be the core of the concern. Let me suggest that VDH and others who make this claim are wrong. McCain never treated Bill Cohen, Clinton’s defense secretary, with the kind of personal animus he showed Donald Rumsfeld....

There’s a reason some of John McCain's conservative supporters avoid discussing his record. They want to talk about his personal story, his position on the surge, his supposed electability. But whenever the rest of his career comes up, the knee-jerk reply is to characterize the inquiries as attacks. The McCain domestic record is a disaster. To say he fought spending, most particularly earmarks, is to nibble around the edges and miss the heart of the matter. For starters, consider: - McCain-Feingold — the most brazen frontal assault on political speech since Buckley v. Valeo. - McCain-Kennedy — the most far-reaching...

There’s a reason some conservatives who support John McCain are rarely willing to discuss the bulk of his record. They want to discuss his personal story, his position on the surge, and his supposed electability. And when questions are raised about McCain’s broader record, the knee-jerk reply is to characterize the inquiries as negative attacks. The McCain domestic record is a disaster. To say that he fought spending, most particularly earmarks, is to nibble around the edges and miss the heart of the matter. McCain’s record on a host of major domestic issues is among the most anti-conservative in...
