Porn stars angry at condom requirement, threaten to leave L.A.
Los Angeles Times ^ | November 7, 2012

Posted on 11/08/2012 7:39:37 AM PST by ConservativeStatement

AIDS activists called a requirement that porn performers wear condoms while filming a "referendum on the subject of safer sex."

But with almost all the votes tallied and Measure B winning passage, many in the adult film industry were wondering what's next for the industry — and whether they must now take their business out of Los Angeles County.

LOL! 'AIDs Activists!!' What a joke. Should read 'Homo Fraud Cons.' Pathetic. Since HIV DOES NOT cause AIDs (a syndrome of more than 30 separate diseases states), and AIDs is NOT a sexually-transmitted disease, this is ridiculous.

Can't wait for the new Porno movie starring Magic Johnson,..."Magic Balls'!!! What a hoot!

Regardless of what one thinks about this “industry” I don’t see how something like this can be decided by an election. What’s next? All players must wear helmets in MLB games played in LA? All taxi drivers must shower daily?

That’s what I say. However, this is just a step away from making all of their citizens wear condoms. What’s wrong with people wanting the government to control their sexual organs. Eventually the healthcare laws in this country will attempt total control of reproduction. It would not surprise me if we end up with sterilization and abortion as common practice to forcibly control birthrates and condoms for preventative measures against disease.

California will be the trial runs on these practices. The majority of the folks who live there don’t seem to mind all the government intervention and policing of sexual practices (Allowing nudity, homo marraige etc.)

I’m at least half serious when I suggest that an enterprising lawyer could make a first amendment argument that the “money shot” is an artistic expression that expresses themes of dominance and submission that are an important part of the art form.

And the argument might actually be a winner.

I REALLY needed a good laugh today, thank you for the post.
Reading the comments, I love the sense of humor here.

I hate to admit it, but if you have ever seen the movie Boogie Nights (great soundtrack!) you get a sense of the changes in the porn industry from film to video and how depraved and violent it is....and how it prays on using young teens for “talent”....
For once here is a gov’t regulation that works against a depraved industry. Freedom isn’t so free is it?

If you look at it as an industry for a moment, it would probably be better for them to move north, to Oregon or Washington state. They are still very liberal up there, so would permit the industry to operate, but California is rapidly spiraling into an abyss for any business.

This also raises another point, in that the adult film industry is very closely related to the non-adult film industry. This means that it will send a very strong message to the non-adult film industry to bug out as well.

Interesting: if they went back to San Francisco it would be full circle from where Porn as we know it actually started over 40 years ago.
But what is the sense of this, besides “AIDS Activists”
flexing their political muscles? Since the outbreak of AIDS
the porn industry has been policing itself with compulsory AIDS screenings—if AIDS were to have made inroads there, considering that the whole industry is about sex and nothing but,and that partners rotate willynilly between many hundreds of different production entities, that whole industry would’ve been effectively wiped out sometime in the 80s. As far as I know there HAVE BEEN a handful of deaths and/or illnesses
ascribable to AIDS, but not much more.I suppose the use of condoms is “optional” in current Porn Productions, but it isn’t hard to figure why the “visuals” of having to show condoms in use would kill the whole voyeuristic “thrill” of watching sex acts pretty much the same way as having to use them “at home” for whatever reason kills most of the
intensity of the sexual experience.

My home town, the San Fernando valley, is the home of the porn industry, and it’s an industry that hires a lot of people -— not just those with three foot appendages, either. When CA is hurting, these idiot voters vote more taxes for all, and this condom regulation means we lose this huge business ( pun accidental) now too.

It seems like anyone who stays here with their business is a weiner no matter what you do.
