California voters may have just handed Democrats unbridled control over taxes as well as policy, but party leaders from Gov. Jerry Brown on down immediately pledged to exercise restraint.
Although final tallies are not official, it appears Democrats will hold at least a two-thirds supermajority in both the Assembly and Senate.
That gives them the ability to pass taxes and fees, and place initiatives — such as same-sex marriage and bonds — on the ballot without securing a single Republican vote.

We’re about to find that out here in MN.
Now that we have a rat house,rat senate, rat governor, rat SOS, and rat AG.
Their focus will be raising taxes,passing gay marriage,and making the entire state a Willie Green choo-choo playground.
Naturally, the federal government will not allow a bankrupt California to crash and burn into anarchy. Unfortunately, this means our diminishing federal tax revenues will have yet another demand placed upon it. But what will the feds do? Will they cut federal departments or services to fund it, or will they borrow more money, or raise taxes? Good question.
If Calif indeed has a Dem supermajority, the slippery slope has just been greased with a fiscal version of STP motor oil. Super-greased. Poor buggers. Down they go....dragging us with them, kicking and screaming in a tangled mass of Mexicans, windmills and mag-lev trains.

Stop believing that this is going to change things towards our favor.
Did you know that 73% of Asians (as an ethnic group) voted for Obama last Tuesday?
Did you know that that amounts to an even higher percentage than the Hispanics gave to him (he won 71% of the Hispanic vote)?
Think long and hard about these numbers.

The purists complained about Rinos Pete Wilson and Arnold not being pure conservatives.
Each of these non purist wore out their veto pens to keep the left wing tax and spend and new normals in check.
Has Moonbeam ever vetoed a single tax increase or something abnormal the new normals want?
Prop 13 and our IRA’s/401k’s will be taxed heavily on every withdrawal or hell even a % regardless if the accounts made any money.

That will be the first attack on Prop 13. Their tv ads will make any California Business which owns property evil and will force more to leave California.
When that tax increase is spent, and California starts to look like Detroit, prop 13 will be killed in a special Friday evening/night session.
As a life-long California resident, I’d appreciate it if you would use the correct terminology

“fine-tuned”
“made a living, breathing amendment”
“made compassionate”
and of course, my personal favorite
“made fair”
I own two houses, one in San Jose (personal residence) and one in San Francisco (investment home)
Likely will sell both and move to Arizona or Nevada, perhaps within two years. I will miss the Pacific Ocean, but oh well !

1. Prop. 13 staying untouched
2. The (now in their early 20s) kids
3. Wife’s family
But with the lower costs, living in Las Vegas or Phoenix, hey, the Bay Area would be only a long drive or a short plane ride away

That 73% Asian figure, is it based on exit polling? The same type of polls that Republicans are well known to refuse? It may be seriously flawed if it is “exit data”.

Buddy of mine down the road has a military pension, a cop’s pension, and a teacher’s pension.
In addition to his big house in Santa Cruz County with half a dozen cars and as many trucks, mobile home, tractors, and machine tools, he has a big place in Tahoe. Oh, did I mention that is wife is a retired CPS bureaucrat?”
Being in our 70’s, we know several couples who are retired teachers/ed administrators.
Most of them are on vacation and out of town/state/country well over 50% of the calendar year.
My wife used to get mad at me when I voted no because of what she felt were underpaid teachers and hurting the children with no votes.
Starting about 10 years ago, she woke up to what I had been complaining about because of these high living retirees.
Besides the vacations, she calls them the new Beamer, Lexus, Acura and even Jag owners like your buddy.
You can’t do that because on 11/6/2012 the country changed it’s name to Detroit.
The new flag is yellow with a big fly on it.
I guess I’d have to say no. Here in Virginia we passed such a law earlier this year and Dim’s won.
Agree...let California get what they want. Should be a good example for rest of the country.

So if they have a residence in Texas and get their mail in Texas, do they have to pay CA state income tax?

Looks like 3 things to me.
1. Prop 13 staying untouched.
2. Grown children and grandkids in this area. If California becomes hostile to business owners, one adult child is ready to move. Texas, Oklahoma, Idaho have been after him to move.
I could see summers in Idaho and winters in Arizona.
Too bad Mexico is so dangerous to live in now. Cabo would have been nice for our winter months.
My regrets to the decent people stranded in Ca but I can’t help but feel it is better to let the rats destroy things quicker so the rebuilding can begin sooner.
They have wanted to end it for the “evil” commercial property owners for a long time.
So say we all.
Hell, they appear to love to pay taxes.
Basically every teacher, we know, who has retired has stayed in California.
Part is due to their health coverage by Kaiser. They know how to work the system and work the hell out of it.
Sometimes, the only time they are back is for surgery or something at Kaiser and their healing time.
