Would it have made any difference if Obama had run on Romney's platform?

Posted on 11/08/2012 12:00:19 PM PST by pieceofthepuzzle

I rarely post vanities, but I wanted to ask Freepers if they thought it would have made any difference to the average Obama voter if he had stated the same policy goals as Romney. My personal opinion is that for most Obama voters, and for much of the democrat base, it would make no difference. For that matter, I don't think they would have liked Romney any better even if he had run on Obama's platform.

This is an important issue, because if its all about brand name, and not about actual policy positions, then there is essentially no way to sway those voters from the left without calling yourself a democrat. It also likely means that all the pandering in the world is probably still not going to work.

This isn’t rocket science pal... one candidate’s mouth was connected directly to satan’s laptop... the other was a progressive but loves America.

While it may be true that Romney’s positions are different than 0bamao’s, I do not think it would have made a difference.

The pie-eyed 0bamabots and democrat cult worshippers would have voted for him no matter what.

If they were interchangeable, why did Maher give the Obama campaign 1 million dollars? Why did Hollywood have so many fund raisers for him. It shouldn't have made any difference to them if their positions were identical.

Democrats didn’t support zero because of his positions.

The masses are dumbasses who really don’t have a clue as to who they are voting for until the following April.

There.

Fixed, unless I need to specify April 15th...

What mattered was the media's message about their platforms.

Romney hates dogs.

Obama loves dogs. (although he thinks they're a little chewy)...

“Democrats didn’t support zero because of his positions.”

I absolutely agree. There are probably some for whom specific issues were important, but for the most part I believe we are a nation divided by resentments and self-interests. I also find it very irritating when democrats start talking about ‘social justice’. They don't have a clue what that means.

You have a social justice President whose half-brother lives in a tiny shack in Kenya while Obama ignores him.

You have a social justice President who allows a decorated US Army medical officer go to jail and lose his commission because the President refuses to provide us with a certified paper copy of his original birth certificate.

You have a social justice President who plays golf and hangs out with celebrities while black unemployment soars, and his adopted city of Chicago is awash in gang related deaths.

You have a social justice President who has his political operatives dig up dirt and destroy his political opponents, including getting sealed divorce records opened and made public.

You have a social justice President who speaks about ‘voting revenge’, and whose closest political advisor pledged revenge against those who didn't support them politically.

You have a social justice President who apparently went to bed while an American Ambassador and two Navy Seals were dying in Benghazi.

The list goes on, and its a long one.

Yes, it would have increased Obama's margin of victory.

However, it is important to remember that this scenario is total fantasy. Obama, like most liberals, is incapable of clearly stating ANY conservative positions. He could not do it if his life depended on it.
