The call for Republicans to discard their opposition to immigration amnesty will grow deafening in the wake of President Obama’s victory. Hispanics supported Obama by a margin of nearly 75 percent to 25 percent, and may have provided important margins in some swing states. If only Republicans relented on their Neanderthal views regarding the immigration rule of law, the message will run, they would release the inner Republican waiting to emerge in the Hispanic population.
If Republicans want to change their stance on immigration, they should do so on the merits, not out of a belief that only immigration policy stands between them and a Republican Hispanic majority. It is not immigration policy that creates the strong bond between Hispanics and the Democratic party, but the core Democratic principles of a more generous safety net, strong government intervention in the economy, and progressive taxation. Hispanics will prove to be even more decisive in the victory of Governor Jerry Brown’s Proposition 30, which raised upper-income taxes and the sales tax, than in the Obama election.

The irony is that they come to America to escape inefficient/corrupt big governments that have crushed their home economies and in search of a better life.
And what do they do? They want to change America into the hell hole they just left.
I do not know the exact percentage, but my educated guess is there are a lot of Hispanics getting free money from the government. I see a whole bunch of young Hispanics who can’t even speak English, at the social security office when I have to go there to make changes to my social security account. That office handles many government benefits such as food stamps and welfare besides social security. By the way Social security is an entitlement, not a free benefit. We seniors paid FICA taxes all our working lives.

Really? Give some examples. but at least you’re admitting it isn’t immigration issues that keep hispanics from voting Republican.
It was the kenedy/democrat 1965 immigration act that was the seed for the ocean of 3rd world immigrants, hispanics, illegals etc that we see. This was the goal of Democrats : import foreign socialist voters by the millions and so they are reaching the tipping point in America. even with the socialist media and gov schools they couldn't turn enough Americans into voting for socialists/democrats . but they always had the blacks but knew they needed more so they imported them and still are. if we don't stop this immigration then we have to secede.
And they seem to be succeeding in doing that.
This may all be true and probably is but, I still say we need to get an an inforcable immigration law in place (e-identification cards, penalties for emplyers who hire illegals, guest worker programs, etc). It’s what’s best for this country even if it doesn’t necessarily get immigrants on our side. The majority of Americans support this, too. We may need to give amnesty in return but, good g-d it’s time to get something real in place.
People who come here looking for freedom have never had it and don’t know what to do with it, and people who were born with it don’t want the responsibility of it. It’s a paradox.

I briefly visited my Facebook page yesterday before deactivating my account. One of our friends who happens to be of Mexican descent and whose wife is the same voted for Romney/Ryan. He was very disgusted with his fellow Americans and their love of abortion, gay marriage, etc. He is Protestant /Evangelical. He is from the streets of LA and has a lot of scars from his youth. He is among the few individuals I would entrust my children to his care. He believes in God, and he believes there are consequences for actions. He works long hours to provide for his family, and he has since we met him. We know other Mexicans who are of similar mind set. They are all Protestant. The Catholic Mexicans we know vote for big government. On the other hand, my BFF is Catholic, and she and her family are conservative. So I don’t think that all Catholics are looking for government to do the work of the Church. My BFF’s family comes from a land ravaged by Islam. Maybe that makes a difference.
There is nothing Republicans could offer Hispanics,Asians etc. to make them vote for Republicans. most are foreigners and just don't believe in our values of freedom and limited government.Amnesty would bring tens of millions more illegals and Hispanics in. Even close elections like Tuesday will soon be a distant memory. The Dems could run Karl Marx against Jesus Christ next time, and it would be Marx in a landslide.

I cannot think of one RC country in the history of the world that preferred small limited government. It’s ironic you stated this unhistorical statement to William III himself. Why do you think he chased James II right out of the British Isles during our fore fathers Glorious Revolution. Because RC’s do not prefer limited government. Granted, RC’s have adapted well and have embraced limited government here in America, but left to their own devices, they have not.
You have actually hit on the *WHY* so many conservatives are dead set against "comprehensive immigration reform". We *DID* 'give on amnesty' before, and got nothing but broken promises in return. We do not care to go down that same road again, for we are not, after all, fools.
Any promises given to us in exchange for giving in on amnesty will, just like the last time, be unfulfilled "hot air", and we know it. We are not "Charlie Brown" forever suckered into attempting to kick a football which is going to be pulled away...

Mexico doesn't *have* a state religion, and in fact the PRI (THE major political party in Mexico) has a rather long history of persecuting Catholics, even going as far as using the regular Mexican Army to KILL both Catholic clergy, and their congregations in the 1920's-1930's. Google the Christero War to get informed.
FWIW, the Catholic Church did not receive the minimal guarantees of their right to worship under provision of the latest Mexican constitution until the 1980's.
If THAT is being 'the State Religion' I'll eat my hat...

As you can see, outside of the Vatican, Catholicism is the only the official "state religion" in a handful of tiny, obscure nations. Having a large percentage of Catholic citizens doesn't make it the "official religion" anymore than it makes tacos the "official food" of Mexico. This list also shows you that liberal ranting about how "Christian rule" is "just as bad as Islamic rule" is total BS. In the RARE case that a country does have Christianity enshrined in the Constitution as the official "state religion", not one of them is a dictatorship that jails non-Christians and forces everyone else to convert to the religion or die.
The Hispanic knows the Democrat will work to create a easy pathway to citizenship. There is a reason why Democrats want more Hispanic citizens. Democrats have found that they can easily buy the Hispanic vote with social programs loaded with freebies. It is a symbiotic relationship which guarantees huge numbers of Hispanics becoming citizens. The Hispanic uses his vote potential as political capitol. The Hispanic vote uses the Democrat politician for immigration reforms that will enable more Hispanics to become citizens and to get more freebies.
This mechanism threatens the Republican Party who sees the danger of unrestrained Hispanic immigration and citizenship. The Archilles’ heel of course, is the freebie. By eliminating the freebie, there is no marketing for the vote. That would take a big chunk out of the mechanism.
Oh please. These guys probably didn’t even know they were voting. The Dims don’t need them to be there at all.
