"Stem cells from strangers can repair hearts..."

..... But what if the stem cells came from a person that was not as conservative as you .... would you really want to be saved by them?

Perhaps it would be best that you stay home and wait for one who has stem cells that come from a TRUE conservative to save you.

When my father had a major infarction, he was placed on a test regimen of diet, exercise, and pharmaceuticals. After a year, 7 of the 11 in the test group were still alive, to the (frankly) surprise of the cardiologist who had expected worse results.

The last dye shot dad had showed new blood vessels in the affected area of his heart, some 15 years later.

Given a chance, the body can heal and rebuild.

I wonder what the patient's own stem cells might do.
