Lt. Col. Ralph Peters On Petraeus: "Timing Is Just Too Perfect" (Video)
Real Clear Politics ^ | 11/9/12 | Lt. Col. Ralph Peters

LT. COL. RALPH PETERS: The timing is just too perfect for the Obama administration. Just as the administration claimed it was purely coincidence that our Benghazi consulate was attacked on the anniversary of September 11th. Now it’s purely coincidence that this affair -- extra-marital affair -- surfaces right after the election, not before, but right after, but before the intelligence chiefs go to Capitol Hill to get grilled. As an old intelligence analyst, Neil, the way I read this -- I could be totally wrong, this is my interpretation -- is that the administration was unhappy with Petraeus not playing ball 100% on their party-line story. I think it's getting cold feet about testifying under oath on their party-line story. And I suspect that these tough Chicago guys knew about this affair for a while, held it in their back pocket until they needed to play the card.

It’s more like he’s in the Cosa Nostra. Once you’re in at that level, you can never get out. You might get moved aside, but trying to get out, makes you a target. He won’t lose his pension, because nobody in power would want him to work elsewhere using his resources or skill sets.

To be clear, Petraeus retired from the military in summer 2011.

-——President Boehner?-——

That is my thought as well. there are a great many diverse powerful forces being injured. One can only wonder where they will meet to coalesce the means to bring it about

Is this resignation part of a plan to stop Petraeus from testifying about Benghazigate? Or is it his refusal to go along any further with this corrupt business, which forced Obama to fire him? Or did he decide to confess his sins openly and resign, so he could fight back?

I really have no idea. I guess we just need to see what happens next.

My 2 cents. They wanted to discredit him. They had the goods on him for awhile, he didn’t want to play ball.

They took away his most precious asset. Credibility....

e.g. If he hid this, then he can’t be trusted........

Well reviewing all the possibilities in this whole sordid situation, a sexy plant is just another possibility that would work. Lure Petraeus in and bring a West Pointer that he cannot refuse the attention. I mean the fact that already the FBI is releasing details of the emails of sex under the desk does not sound professional. This smells of Chicago Thuggery at it's best! And the four valiant men who died in Benghazi will all be forgotten and not investigated because the media will be so involved the sordid details of Petraeus’s affair.

“the media will be so involved the sordid details of Petraeus’s affair.” And not unwittingly either. The mainstream Communist Front media are there to protect the Forward Regime, closer and closer to their goal of Communism. But I think the media are in for a big surprise! Obama is moving Forward, but in a different direction from where the media think he is taking this country. We will all see when the time comes.

I’ve even heard that a general can be recalled to active duty to be punished. Seems bizarre and unlikely. We are probably basing all of our opinions on about 10% of the information. It’s going to be interesting to watch it unfold. I hope the leftist MSM finds the sex angle interesting enough to cover the Benghazi hearings.

I’d like to see where this has actually happened rather than saying it theoretically could happen.

My guess is it would only happen if Petraeus would spill the beans on the White House. Petraeus is just another bureaucrat weenie who puts himself first.

If he were a real patriot he would have resigned before the election and let the chips fall where they may.

Good point. It suggests that maybe they finally came to a point where they agreed to disagree, but that Petraeus may have agreed to keep quiet about it, in return for getting his retirement benefits without any trouble.

On the other hand, i's traditional for cabinet members to offer their resignations right after a re-election. Sometimes the whole cabinet has been asked to submit resignations, so the Prez can decide which ones to keep on and which ones to let go. Maybe that's what happened. Although in Petraeus's case there were certainly special circumstances--especially the forthcoming grilling by the Senate.

Obama is moving Forward, but in a different direction from where the media think he is taking this country.

That was the other possibility that happened in this election. It is fairly clear that Romney and the RINO's thought they had it in the bag. In fact, with the world of hurt coming our way with the economic meltdown and WWIII right around the corner, the last thing they wanted was Obama running the military. There are two ways they could have lost an election in the bag.

They over estimated Romney's support from conservatives.

They under estimated Obama's voter fraud.

Very possible that we are in a situation where Obama is going for tyrannical control of the RINO/DINO cult. That will eventually cause the Progresso's to come off the plantation and may get some Nixonian blowback headed Obama's way. That would mean Impeachment is very possible.

You are dreaming ... with the Senate in criminal party hands and the House controlled by feckless republicants, the criminal-in-chief is as safe as a babe int he womb. ... On second thought, this sonofabitch is safer than that.

I’m holding out for the possibility that Petraeus was tired of the WH holding his affair over his head, and using the affair to get Petraeus to support the BS of the video tape. Perhaps Petraeus resigned to regain dignity and to get the truth out.

If the White House (Obama, Axlerod, etc) have been using FBI raw information data to BLACKMAIL, Petraeus, and Petraeus resigned and confessed the affair to free himself of this bladkmail so he could tell the truth, how much of a stretch is it to believe Obama the BLACKMAILER, to ratchet up the threat saying, "If you expose me regarding Benghazi, we will kill your children, your wife, Broadwills husband, 2 children and Broadwell herself.

Look for one of these people to come up dead if Petraeus gets close to testifying before the House. We have the mob (worse than the Arkansas mafia) running this country...led by Obama, Axlerod, etc. They hold the reigns of power. If we believe that they will not use murder, but will stop at BLACKMAILING THE HEAD OF THE CIA, we are naive and stupidly assessing the level of corruption of depravity to which they have sunk.

Remember Obama was content to allow Stevens, and the others die for their silence. Yes the executioners were al Quaeda but their killing Americans, Obama determined, was in his political interest. Their deaths were bumps in the road, not the death of people who had wives, children, parents, back home who loved them to Mr.Obama and Ms. Clinton. We must never lose sight of these facts.

Re: “Patreus will tell the truth and that will be the smoking gun.”

FWIW - my prediction is that the only smoking gun in this story will be the one found in a dead General’s hand or lying near the body within a couple of weeks from now.

The “suicide” note may or may not be in his handwriting... but does it really matter? Will anyone really care?

There will be no “testimony” from Gen. P. at any hearing, I’m pretty sure of that.

Petraius just didn’t realize he had become a pawn of the Obama enablers. There is much more coming out on the man’s behavior to show he was really compromised. And to think there were Republicans that wanted this guy for POTUSA. I wonder if there are many of these people who stayed home on election day because they didn’t like Mormons. I wasn’t tremendously enthused about voting for a Mormon POTUSA but I would have had a very bad taest in my mouth when Obama enablers unloaded on Petraius.

“the affair was ended in September of 2011, BEFORE he became CIA Director.”

I believed that from the git-go. I expect that every person working under/for Hussein had a skeleton in his closet before being brought on board. Hussein wouldn’t hire someone unless he has a tool (blackmail) to control and manipulate if the need arises. In Benghazi, “the need arose” in regard to Petraeus. Now all appointees know they’re walking time bombs, wondering what’s in their files.
