THE HIGHEST EARTHQUAKE RISK in the UNITED STATES outside the West Coast is along the New Madrid Fault. Damaging tremors are not as frequent as in California, but when they occur, the destruction covers over more than 20 times the area because of underlying geology.

Looking at that map, I’m wondering what effect the 1812 New Madrid earthquakes had on Lake Michigan.

The boot heel of Missouri to Wisconsin? You realize you are talking about better than 500 miles? Yes, I do - that's why I said you were in a good place. But other people read these threads, and that's why I mentioned MO. KY had an earthquake yesterday, not a big one, but where there are small earthquakes, there is potential for a bigger one. Out there, I'd certainly prep for tornado/power outage first. But think how heartbreaking to find all that food destroyed by an earthquake.

Ive seen earth sheltered homes in OK built at ground level and buried.
Were I in FL then I might consider constructing a mott, place the tank on top, then bury the whole thing.
Of course, if one were to build an earth sheltered home with a shielded patio to begin with then there would be no need for a buried 30,000 galon tank...

Perhaps it is a cesspool? They are often round with pretty big openings.

Preppers are always in a brighter light after disasters......but in a month they will be viewed as kooks again. Most people have short memories.
