We petition the obama administration to: Peacefully grant the State of Texas to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.

The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government's neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it's citizens' standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government.

There are better ways of letting the free market distribute medical services than with medicaid and medicare.

Wouldn't Texas be better advised to increase its regional influence and just split into 5 States like its Texas Annexation document prescribes?

10 senators, not just 2. That would shift the balance of power in the US Senate real quick.

Would balance of the influence of a Puerto Rico statehood too

FReegards!

"I think these have been set up by libs for the purpose of instigation."

Must be. only "liberals" would have such distorted understanding of the concept of secession to think it is done by asking permission.

Texas has 3 million on Medicare and 4.5 million on Medicaid.
Assuming the state has to pick up those costs after “secession” it’s a HUGE burden.

If we were to secede, yes we would assume a huge burden in social services and debt assumed from the federal government. We would have to borrow a bundle to assume those debts. But the economic boom we would experience would be able to pay off those debts without that much trouble. People would be moving here by the droves, starting new businesses, moving businesses here, buying property, and so forth.

Part of what you say is wrong- Social Security is paid worldwide. People on Social Security can live in Mexico or wherever they like and continue to receive their checks.

Agreed. And there’s a rash of these. I saw a petition for Alaska to leave, too.
While Puerto Rico, a likely welfare capital, has asked to become a state.

Yes, under normal circumstances Social Security checks are sent anywhere. However, if a state announced it was seceding, the federal government would probably immediately cut off all checks going to that state.

Private charity could pick up the slack in time, but not soon enough to prevent widespread hardship and chaos. Modern Americans wouldn’t make it through the first 2 weeks.

If Texas seceded the burden of no federal taxation would be an unbelievable wealth creator. Those actually needing help could get it directly from charities or churches.

Out of every tax dollar that goes to Washington, only 30% actually gets to its destination, the rest is wasted.
