After a hard-fought race in a newly formed Arizona congressional district, Democrat Kyrsten Sinema was declared the winner today, becoming the first openly bisexual member of Congress.

Sinema, a former state senator, joins at least five openly gay Democrats who were elected to House seats, and Tammy Baldwin, who became the first openly gay candidate elected to the Senate.

When asked by ABCNews.com how it felt to be the first openly bisexual member of Congress, Sinema said, “We’ve made history, and we’re proud of that, but what I am interested in is making history by making things better for the people of Arizona’s 9th Congressional District.”

Sinema, 36, had a razor-thin lead on Election Night against her opponent, Tea Party candidate Vernon Parker, but she ultimately pulled ahead, finishing with a 6,000-vote edge over the Republican, the Associated Press reported today.

If I have to, and I have to in order to comment, think about being “openly gay” means, I get a picture in my mind of the Fulsom Stree Fair, the particular one that Zombietime photographed.

Really, what does it mean?

I suppose being “bi” gets one an extra chance at dates?

Dick Martin of Laugh-In claimed to a trisexual...he said he'd "try anything".

He married Dolly Read, PLAYBOY's Miss May of 1966.

I bet he stayed home.

Does anyone really think God winks at this stuff?

Remember the Crevo threads?

Libertarians are not allies of the conservatives. Look at Barry Goldwater's last few years.

I think that John Heinze-Kerry’s yacht should be sufficient. With plenty of cabana boys. lol That yacht is still moored in RI. We could make a real trip out of it. I’ll bet that yacht is pretty nice. Much nicer than my raft with a hole in it.

Sounds like a winner. Darn, we just sold our pontoon boat and I don't even have a raft.

;)

I’m sure since John and his lovely sugar-momma would have no problem with us taking their yacht, we should start planning. ;)

Since when is a declared, self-identity so important? How am I supposed to be able to tell? Her word alone? There’s plenty of personal identifications, like skintone, for which there is no coming out about, much less no practical need either.
