This is the leadership of the current US military. In it for the next promotion and a bunch of whore chasers. They screw the troops and get their gain in promotion over the bodies and blood of the troops. I am so glad that I am no longer in the military. I would have been court-martialed by now for opening my big mouth. These idiots kill our troops, the US government is included in this rant. I tell any and all young people who even have a thought about going in the military now not too. Find a real job. Because all these fools are going to do is use you up, kill you and then in the end, if you survive, forget you exist. They cut cut cut veterans benefits, paid for by blood and honor, and give free stinking phones to a bunch of sit on their lazy butt ass kissers like Obama’s gang. I am sick of the whole mess. I simply pray every day that the Good Lord will come and call the church home, then deal with these people. They are nonrepenant and love to do garbage. One day, they are going to find out the true price of their actions.
This certainly has to be demoralizing for the front line troops. But these events do demonstrate one truth: that personal morality does matter. I think at one time the military leaders were honourable men who took seriously their oath to protect the country, but who became part of the compromising culture of Washington. In order to get ahead they started to compromise their principles and are now at the point where they put the interests of their country and the safety of their men behind social climbing and satisfying their narcissistic impulses. Remember, these are the same men who cheerlead for politicians who inserted female soldiers into combat positions (then shielded those women from the really dangerous assignments) and are now promoting homosexuality in the armed forces. They know that permitting these atrocities is damaging to America’s safety but their first priority is their own privileged place in the Washington establishment.
That is quite a rant, but first, remember that the guys who got us into a hot shooting war in the ME thinking we were going to clean up the whole place was Bush and his neo-con's. Those were the guys who are the real target of this rant. Petraeus, if you will recall, was the guy who snatched some sort of reasonable outcome out of the jaws of defeat that Cheney and Wolfowitz and that crowd got us into in Iraq.
Petraeus is not coming off as a saint here, but anyone who is looking for saints in effective combat generals (Patton anyone) needs to find and alternative universe. The drive that makes men good at killing things that need killing also make them good at other basic human drives. It is how we are wired up, part of the human condition. Don't want pansies running your combat troops, well conservatives need to look in a mirror and decide what things they want in military leaders and what things they can live with.
