Any real effort at secession would need to begin by petitioning the state governments, not the federal government. That these people think they can get anywhere without first convincing a single state to secede is proof that the whole thing is a joke.

In fact, if Obama really wanted to mess with their heads he would say Oh yes, I agree with you. Now just convince your state to secede...

“By seceding, the states that don’t come along, we’ve lost that land and resources. Why leave anything to them and thus essentially give them the victory in that part of the country? If anyone’s going to leave, we mnake them leave the country as it is now, let them go back to europe or africa or south america or asia, we’ll stay here and keep the whole damn country.”

Their land & resources are no more ours, than our land & resources is theirs. That really isn’t our country anymore, and if it is ever recoverable it will be like an east Germany situation in say a 100 years.

“I wouldn’t want my name on ANY list that is kept by THIS White House......”

I would assume that being a FReeper has already put you on the enemy list.

“In fact, if Obama really wanted to mess with their heads he would say Oh yes, I agree with you. Now just convince your state to secede...”

That would make things fairly simple wouldn’t it? All we would have to do over the next decade or so, is convince the majority of our population that we would be better off separate from the leftist scumbags that dominate the north.

That is a much simpler task than convening those scumbags that they would rather not have us around as well.

Of course we have much more to gain politically from a no answer from Obama than a yes. Such an answer would establish in his own words the essentially compete trap that makes slaves of us all. This of course could be a rallying point against Obama by patriots.

A no-answer answer say Obama refuses to address the matter claiming he answers only legitimate questions or something to that effect would also be uses-full. In that we could question the very foundation of Obama’s concept of law or lack there of. What makes a answer legitimate in Obama’s america what makes law law, his discression or what is written.

In any-event we have already gained an opportunity to speak about self-government from this affair. We must not wast it. its worth noting that the other thing we have gained from this affair is more familiarity with the concept among more of the public.

All of theses achievements bring real self-government either thou restored federalism or Independence a few steps closer.

“Exactly. These petitions are a joke. I don’t even know how you would pursue secession in a serious, credible way, but we sure haven’t seen it yet.”

You have to make it serous and creitable that starts with a serous conversation about the topic.

Wether these petition are cretiable is illrelevent in that they have nonetheless got people(including you) to seroulsy think about, talk about, and ponder the matter.

I can tell you form reading the comment section of news artistic you are not the only one. We are making progress in pushing this agenda back into the American sphere of thought.

“Unless a truly viable effort should emerge — as proven by the highest elected officials of some state taking real action towards secession”

AS you well know you can’t take such action TOWARDS without Washington smashing you, it has to be sudden(relatively unexpected by Washington) or slow & accepted.

Theses conversations move us forward towards both goals, both intrastate and interstate.

“— then conservatives should steer clear of this secession stuff.”

I’m sure they will, but the topic will be nonetheless on the minds of our people as a perhaps nessary measure to secure our freedom. They won’t be able to ignore the demands of our abusive situation forever.

“I think there are reports because the media will tie all Republicans to this. It will make moderates think we’re crazy, and we’ll lose their votes. The average person is nothing like the average FReeper. You and I just disagree on the outcome this will create. You follow your path, I’ll follow mine.”

I’m sure they will but moderates will tire of socialism, and inevitably be forced to acknowledged the basic reality that we can’t all eat the same bread or live in the same house under exactly the same rules as dictated by Washington.

They may see two extremes to choose form, but in those two extremes only one do they see the option of being left alone.

I agree with all you said. I don’t see any stopping this slide. I also hear the same conversations. This was the tipping point we all feared. Barring a miracle, I fail to see how enough people can change their mindset. Especially after a few more years of accelerated decline.

Amen.

Beck does not speak for Conservatives.

Beck does not speak for Republicans.

Beck does not speak for me.

He has morphed into the rightwing version of 0bama - narcissistic, self-centered, and thinks he’s God’s gift to the world.

Too bad. He used to be funny and entertaining, but that was many, many years ago.

Beck didn’t back Romney until Romney effectively had the nomination in the bag.

Even then, his proposed campaign slogan was “Romney, at least he’s not a Comney”.

Lukewarm, at best.
