NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -
A group of Wal-Mart workers are planning to stage a walkout next week on Black Friday, arguably the biggest holiday shopping day for the world's largest retail store.
The walkout builds on an October strike that started at a Wal-Mart in Los Angeles and spread to stores in 12 other cities. More than 100 workers joined in the October actions.
One of the workers who plans to join next week's walkout is William Fletcher, who works at a Wal-Mart in Duarte, Calif.

Why?
Yeah, they should definitely do this because their impeccable education, training and skills, coupled with our extremely low unemployment rate, will most certainly bring the evil corporation to its knees!
I can’t believe anyone is dumb enough to open a business in a state that allows unions.
Why? Because Wal-Mart is evil, that’s why.
are they trying to unionize??
For every one protesting, there are a hundred or more willing to take their job.
Normally I don’t support union-like tactics like “walk-outs”, but since one of the family owners (one of Sam Walton’s sons) is a big Obama supporter, I find it humorously ironic that this is happening to him, and therefore I have no problem supporting the employees in this particular case.
Oh good, thanks for the heads up. I bet that the Walmarts will be hiring back up employees and I hear that the unemployment numbers have gone up since the election.
Air traffic controller mentality?
I don’t understand. How does quitting their jobs do anything
I wish the local WalMart would have a walkout.
I need a job.
I would have their final paycheck ready as they left the store.
Agenda journalism? I’ve never heard of it before! ...
Walmart is not evil except in the eyes of anti business leftists. Walmart is the best run corporation in the world. Those of you who hate capitalism and business can’t comprehend the greatness of such a business entity.
tell me about it
This is a workers of the world unite stunt by Soros because 0bama is the puppet dictator now. Fire them! Let Holder sue.
Oh, ok.
(I know you are being sarcastic)
WalMart was my biggest competitor when I was hiring for retail.
They had the lowest turn over for cashiers, in retail the average is about six weeks, they kept their people on average twelve weeks.
Yea, its doesn’t seem like much but retail is really dog eat dog, and we could not (well steal) get their managers, no one wanted to quit WalmMart.
They held off the unions all these years and now it’s time to go to the matresses.
After Sam Walton Jr. backs Obama, I don’t care if they all die a quick and easy chapter 11.
I shop elsewhere...
Nail them for breach of contract (if they have one) and fire their butts!
Obama is giving SEIU and company card check for Christmas.
We'll all be paying dues to the Democrat money-laundering union slush-fund by next Christmas.
yea, I do get that and am baffled that Walton (family) would support obama.
It makes zero sense.
That guy apparently is not running the company, I heard
re: “Those of you who hate capitalism and business cant comprehend the greatness of such a business entity.”
I totally support capitalism and business, but I don’t support businesses that give millions to the enemies of capitalism and business, like Obama. Sam Walton did not support democrats, but his son sure does.
Maybe be an Alinsky rule. Blame the evil corporation thing.
Instead, I got this:
Mr. Smiley is holding up the wrong finger.
doe that SW Jr have any stake in the company at all?
For the same reason shopowners in Sicily pay tribute to the Mob.....
Roger that. Actions have consequences. I won't traffic with Quislings or Vichy Republicans.
Walk out on black Friday? Sounds like they would lose a lot of money made off of cheap Chinese crap. Oddly enough I support it.
Good luck with that AFL-CIO;)
re: “That guy apparently is not running the company, I heard.”
Honestly, I don’t know the answer to that, but I would assume that Junior gets his money from Wal-Mart.

FU Sam Walton Jr. ($300K donation to Obama SuperPAC)
Perfect example #50,987 of why we need DEATH TAXES for the super rich.
Idle wealth in the form of billions bequeathed to loser, undeserving children has pushed this country further to the left than any other force (Ford Foundation, Hewlett, Johnson, ad nauseum).
Because unskilled (and largely illiterate) workers are in such short supply these days.
And don't you dare take that seriously.
I am the biggest supporter of the free market, free enterprise and capitalism at FreeRepublic. I hope that my sarcasm does not ALWAYS need a neon sign. Sarcasm is best served subtly.
Well if you need a job and live near any of the stores, I suggest arrive on Black Friday and you just might get a job!
Hey, BfloGuy! You watching the game tonight?
Hey, my famila needs work too. ;-)
Are you implying that the employees' union supported Romney? Of course not, their union supported Obama too..........what a conundrum.
Then management can fire them all and get actual employees that will work.
All states allow unions. Some States allow workers not to join.
Wal Mart is a non-Union company. IIRC everytime one of their store's employees vote to unionize, Wal Mart closes the store.
they want a union
re: “Are you implying that the employees’ union supported Romney? Of course not, their union supported Obama too..........what a conundrum.”
I don’t know if Wal-Mart employees are unionized or not, if they are I’m sure they supported Obama, but my issue is with Sam Walton, Jr. - he supported Obama and I think it’s deserved payback that the very guy he supported is the same guy whose policies will destroy Wal-Mart as well.
As Obama’s beloved pastor said, “The chickens are coming home to roost.”
Not store locations - cities (possibly multiple stores in each).
Did anyone notice the October walkout?
They will have plenty of time for Christmas shopping as they are fired.
