"We need to embrace them not just at election time. We visit them, and they don't appreciate that. And I don't blame them for not appreciating that. We should not visit them when we need their vote and then walk away," she said. "And then four years go by and we go visit them again. We have to make them part of the solution, and the way you do that is by listening to them. And then making that part of, 'how do we do this together to make our lives all better?'
"And then once you've done it," she added, "you tell them we did it together."

When the continual cascade of No Good, Very Bad Polling Data continued unabated regardless, said maladroits -- rather than dealing forthrightly with the increasingly dire reality of their candidate's situation -- actively CHOSE to relocate, en masse, to a happy, magical la-la land of talking bunny make-believe. (E.g. "unskewedpolls.com"; "Lunch Alerts!" featuring bucktoothed wish-casting from notorious grifter Dick Morris; etc., etc., ad infinitum, ad nauseum.)
... and now, today: rather than sacking up, like adults, and finally admitting that their cherished baseline assumptions ("Sacrifice the Conservative Base for 'Moderates'"; "You Really CAN Beat a Socialist with Socialist Lite!"; etc.) might have been, just maybe, wrong a teeny tiny little bit... they simply throw their hands up in the air, and huff exasperatedly: "Well, then, nobody could have won, darn it!"
Never, ever again will you (or I) live to witness such a perfect storm of mulish, blinkered GOP-e electoral incompetence and insanity as we've been treated to, these past twelve months or so.
God willing.
And start a Conservative party. Make those N.E. Bull-Haired Rino B@$tards reach for the Kaopectate as they loose 1/2 if not more of the GOP as they go the way of the Wigs, we are so over them.
What... a genuine, principled CONSERVATIVE running for the presidency, you mean...?
You mad, wild-eyed dreamer, you. ;)
Susan Martinez says
“We need to embrace them not just at election time. We visit them, and they don’t appreciate that. And I don’t blame them for not appreciating that. We should not visit them when we need their vote and then walk away,”
I assume she is talking about conservatives. This is good advice.
Romney was an idiot. He lost because he dumped the one thing the RNC was good at... GOTV... for an untested failure called Orca that was under the control of his team in Boston.
There is literally no other way to describe the drop in votes for him in 2012 vs. McCain in 2008.
Martinez is right about needing to engage the community more regularly.
We don’t have to pander. We can stick to our principles, but we need to make sure we communicate those and explain to people the benefits conservative economic policies have on their personal lives.
Currently, the DEMs are in front of them 24 / 7 telling them we hate them and want to see them fail. If we are not there to counter the message, sad as it may be, those notions become cemented, and we lose elections.
That needs to change or our party will indeed perish.
I see, the truth is too expensive, eh?
Whatever good I thought of Jindal went out the window when he started whining about this.
That’s all I need to know, I wouldn’t vote for him in a primary now.
Martinez is SO good for the RINO pub party and Romney...
She really delivered her state for he status quo...
Buh bye, pubs.....
“Its la mierda gratis.”
Great tag line and/or bumper sticker. Love it!
Unfortunately, Gov. Martinez is a pro-amnesty granddaughter of illegals.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."
Repeat after me: “Democrats win by making welfare queens of voters.”
“Democrats win by making welfare queens of voters.”
“Democrats win by making welfare queens of voters.”
“Democrats win by making welfare queens of voters.”
“Democrats win by making welfare queens of voters.”
“Democrats win by making welfare queens of voters.”
Are you RINO’s getting it? One more time...
“Democrats win by making welfare queens of voters.”
For me, It really felt good to leave the R party. Being an I isn’t so bad.
I agree. Democrats - the party of Santa.

Does anyone know what in the Hades this woman is talking about. I am what leftists would term a melanin deficient, European descended person of non-color who does not get “visited” ANY TIME, EXCEPT WHEN I AM EXPECTED TO PAY THE BILLS FOR THE “GIFTS” TO BUY VOTES THAT ROMNEY WAS ACCURATELY TALKING ABOUT.
Susana, we’re glad to have you in the Republican party, but don’t expect pandering from us. I don’t expect to be “visited” year-round, nor do I want to be pandered to. Instead, a simple “thank you” from you for working, paying taxes, taking care of myself, and not being a leech on society would be most appropriate.
Gag....we really do need a third party desperately.
We really needed one IMMEDIATELY after liberal Romney was nominated. Too late for that though.
Yes, Romney’s solutions actually addressed the issues. Obama did not offer any solution to our core problems. His raise taxes on the rich do not solve anything, and he will not cut spending. We’ll have all the same problems two years from now and four years from now. Our side needs to focus on not being blamed. Last year during the debt ceiling discussions, Obama successfully pushed blame to the GOP, despite the facts.
In the next two years, our side would be wise to capitulate on some of the big things, but make fundamental changes that do just what you said to broaden the tax base. We need to tinker with the the existing rules at the lower ends so less people get free money from the tax system and less people pay zero. It will have to be tinkering, not major change because Obama will use that as a hammer to show us as anti-poor. If we could even move the needle 1 percent and get some lower middle class to shift from taker to maker, it would pay dividends.
Romney was actually thrown under a truck.
Rubio was not born to US citizens, his parents were Cuban citizens until 1975
let’s not go there just because the democrats got away with it
