Florida veterinarian Ted Yoho was elected to Congress on Tuesday with a convincing victory over a Democratic challenger and less than three months after he narrowly defeated 12-term incumbent Cliff Stearns in the Republican primary.

Dr. Yoho, 57, turned his attention to politics while working as a large animal veterinarian in Gainesville, Fla. His years in practice and his interaction with farmers, ranchers and business owners made him concerned for "the state of our nation" and led him to realize it was time to "stand up for America," according to his campaign website.

If Sterns was a great conservative why was he defeated?

Sterns had a lifetime 95% conservative lifetime ACU rating.

Why are we supposed to be happy that he's gone?

Hit ‘abuse’ on the articles and tell the moderator to change the headline.

New blood can be appealing.
Look at Yoho’s ad I linked to above.

What infuriates me is that the DEMs had no qualms about putting their Sandra Fluke out there - even had her speak at the convention, but our side - the GOPE wouldn’t allow Sarah any where near the convention or on the campaign trail.

Yes, people - the GOP is spineless.

Stearns may be a Democrat but he served as a Republican. Yoho beat him in the GOP primary.

Oh my gosh - what a wonderful ad. Too bad someone on the Romney team couldn’t come up with something this clever. Their ads were, how shall we say it - BORING! They didn’t inspire anyone - not even me.

But, this pig ad is great!

“If Sterns was a great conservative why was he defeated?”

Because the geniuses in the FL legislature (the very ones who redistricted Col. West) moved Stearns’s district so that it didn’t include his home town and base of support. Good to have a GOP majority in the legislature, isn’t it? Dems in the majority would NEVER do that to their own. Stupid Republicans.

It’s a shame that posters don’t even read the damn articles they post. Palin didn’t endorse Yoho until a week after he defeated Stearns in the primary. Who the hell was she going to endorse if it wasn’t the GOP Primary winner?

ACU means nothing.

They rated Bub Dulle 100.

ACU means nothing.

ACU ratings, while not perfect, do mean something.

Which is I asked, why are we supposed to be happy that he's gone?

All the RINOs have fabulous ACU ratings.

ACU is a protection racket for RINOS.

There was a Dem-supported redistricting law approved by voters in FL that prevented the Republican majority from having a free hand in drawing the lines (forced to draw within certain parameters). The state GOP was just as unhappy as we are, because it gave the Dem seats. There are no such similar "protections" for Republicans in Dem-leaning states.
