Just Who Are the Fools

A regular reader e-mailed me the morning after Obama's election victory, "You should probably leave the country. best for all concerned. slam the door on yer way out."

I replied, "Saving the future of America has never been a sprint.... It's a marathon. It's not a movie; it's a soap opera. It's not bad enough yet for people to wake up to reality. You're stuck with me, like I am stuck with you. America now will get what it voted for. I pray that my assessment of our short-term future as a result of this election does not come to pass. I will support him where I can, but I do not trust his promises."

Yes, I was disappointed and saddened for my country. The Democrats kept the presidency, held the U.S. Senate, and took veto-proof control of both California's Senate and Assembly. I received another e-mail quoting from a comment to a March 2010 Czech Republic Newspaper article published in the Prager Zeitung:

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

But such derisive rhetoric fails to address the reality conservatives face. First, most of the millions who voted for Obama are not fools. We conservatives believe they made the wrong choice, but they're not fools. The President is not a fool. While producing a terrible economic record, he ran a focused campaign, marshaled an impressive ground game, and got the votes out he needed to win. That is hardly the work of a fool.

The great American saga continues, and the true optimists are realists. They face the current realities and get busy attempting to change them.

Some suggest jettisoning principles to reach America's changing demographics, but changing core principles would be political suicide. Instead, conservatives must reach out and engage the voters they must convince and make the case in a way that's compelling to them. You do that by listening to, engaging, and influencing a new generation of Americans.

Seth Godin recently observed: "Who you hang out with determines what you dream about and what you collide with. And the collisions and the dreams lead to your changes. And the changes are what you become. Change the outcome by changing your circle." Conservatives need to start hanging out with and positively colliding with a wider circle of Americans.

Ronald Reagan would say, "They call me a great communicator. I prefer to say I communicated great ideas!" Reagan was an educator. His collection of taped speeches stressed those speeches that communicated timeless principles critical to the future of America. It's time for all conservatives to embrace that role.

It seems like a long way to the mid-term elections in 2014, but we can learn from the president's election game plan. President Obama realized his vulnerability and kept a campaign contingent in each of the swing states for four years. The drone of well-funded, last-minute ads won't change minds already sold on liberal talking points. Now is the time to start engaging, not just the swing states, but all segments of citizens on critical American values and saving the American dream. If we conservatives don't make our case in a way that makes sense and changes minds, it's we who are the fools!

I can go to my Whole Foods store and have a choice of over 20 different types of potato chips. I’m comparing that to Ken Burns’ Dust Bowl. I’m in Eastern Kansas. My in-laws lived in south central Kansas and my 97 year old mother in law remembers Black Sunday. My grandmother’s parents moved from north Texas to Purcell Indian Territory in the 1880s to escape the severe north Texas drought. She lived through the dust bowl there. My sister in law grew up in the Texas panhandle. This country has seen some very hard times. It’s all about getting up and knowing that I have three meals this day.

For me of course it’s all about the freedoms we’re losing and the coming financial crisis. We haven’t run out of other people’s money yet. Hoping that people will vote the constitution instead of their debit cards is pretty hopeless. Maybe I’m too negative but I think we’ve reached and passed the tipping point.

Well past the tipping point, I fear. See, it’s not the fall that kills you, it’s the sudden stop at the bottom. I feel the whoosh of the wind past our collective ears as we plummet toward the abyss. It’s really a matter of when we reach the bottom and how calamitous will be the impact. Either way, there WILL be an impact, and it WILL be painful.

As the saying goes, if something can't continue, it won't. Things will change, simply because the current course is unsustainable. I just hope we can survive the shock when we hit bottom.

If you can put your head into sand & ignore massive voter fraud, then you can enjoy the next 4 years under Obama.

The rest of us are sickened by the cheating Democrats.

I don’t think so. I think it’s going to be very gradual. The cost of living will creep higher and higher. Personal space and opportunity will narrow so slowly that the younger folks won’t even notice it. Eventually most Americans will simply accept that life for us is very much like life for Europeans: a lot of waiting in lines, a lot of red tape to get what you need, a lot of complaining with your friends, a lot of escaping into fantasy worlds on the tv and computer, a lot of mindless entertainment, a lot of boredom, a small stomping ground in a life where nothing ever really changes, a list of sneaky little ways you learn to get around the system, a lesson or two in learning you can’t really trust anyone, a cache of cigarettes to bribe officials with, a network of whispers that tell you who can get you want you want on the side and who will screw you over... and the young eventually won’t know it was ever different. Those of us who do will die off. That’s kind of it. It’ll end with a whimper, not a bang.

Thats half of it, but the first half involves understanding and addressing the motives of the people voting for socialism.

If conservatives simply think a message of 'put your time in, work hard and you might succeed' will win out over 'let us take care of you' then we really are fools. Its gonna take a little more thought & planning than that - leavened by a healthy dose of cynicism.

INVAR's words:

We need to think outside the box of normalcy that we continue to confine ourselves to.

Marxists control the government, the courts, the media and the schools. Do some research - ELECTIONS and ‘turning out the base’ is NOT going to EVER remove a Marxist from power.

Never.

We suffered a coup - and it BAFFLES me that American Conservatives CONTINUE to pretend it’s just another election we lost to a liberal Democrat.

If that’s the case, you DON’T GET IT, you don’t understand what happened in 2008 that made 2012 inevitable and will make 2016, 2020 and the foreseeable future an entrenched Communistic tyranny of ruination by design.

I said Cook County went national back in 2009. You cannot defeat the machine by playing by THEIR rules that arbitrarily change to benefit themselves (Tuesday at the RNC this year anyone?).

The cabal/Ruling Class Regime has played for keeps, there is NO WAY the ballot box has any voice or value any longer. Cognitive dissonance will keep most under the vain hope it still is, because to accept the reality is too much for a weak and lukewarm people to bear.

Understand what time it is. It is time to think past today - return to God in repentance - and draw the line on what is left of your liberty that is GOD-GIVEN and be prepared to defend it by any and all means.

This regime will attempt to regulate us, fine us and starve us into submission. If that does not work to their satisfaction - there is the WACO treatment on tap. If you do not believe that - you are not paying attention and have not understood history under Marxists.

It’s Red Dawn and instead of enemy paratroopers - they simply created the atmosphere and used the machine to get themselves into power.

But the end desire and result by the regime is the same as in that movie. You do not negotiate with, compromise with or play pretend elections with those who are about the business of stripping you of your right to worship God, your gifted liberty and make you a slave who worships the state.

That goes for playing along with the GOP-e Ruling Class who know where the power is going to lie under the Obama regime, and are doing what they are to ensure they can share in it.

We are under enemy occupation.

I’m humbled you found it worthy enough to repost my observations. Thank you.

I’ll add another line of thought based on the talk going around amongst average Joe Sixpacks I know of.

I wrote that we are under enemy occupation.

If these Joe Sixpacks make up the majority - then they PREFER BEING UNDER ENEMY OCCUPATION. Except they don’t see it. Many of them actually voted for it. Almost all of them, are indifferent to it.

As long as they get their stuff, preferably free - they do not care where it came from, and will applaud the punishment of those the regime blames for all the misery. Revenge is something these people are eagerly attracted to.

I was quite frankly stunned and shocked at how forthright they were with their willing media-stoked hatred and jealousies of the rich and Conservatives. The gloating among the welfare slaves in my wife’s family has reached the point where one of them exclaimed that they look forward to the day that Obama TAKES AWAY what the rich have by force, to redistribute to them.

Obama Phone? That’s mild compared to what sentiments I am hearing among the gloating Takers who see His Heinous as some kind of messiah. And these welfare slaves are white.

So I am modifying my thoughts by adding; when I say we are under enemy occupation - it is an occupation not unlike what the German people accepted after Hitler strong-armed the Chancellorship for himself in 1933. The people shrugged their shoulders and accepted it. “What could they do?” was an oft quoted saying.

They eventually did not care where all the ‘stuff’ that brought their misery out of the ashes of Weimar came from, even many were happy to see Jews punished and their wealth confiscated so they could have it. That continued right on up to the average German happily watching Jews become criminalized and having their homes and property confiscated and given to party faithful. They jumped on the bandwagon to get their free stuff - and would betray anyone - even for the mere promise of bread.

We are under enemy occupation - and today - we Conservatives are akin to the Jews of 1930’s Nazi Germany.

I know no one wants to accept such a hard and ridiculous-sounding sentiment. But history will bear this sentiment out. Mark the words of history. They are screaming this warning at us. I’ve read about all of this before. I’ve talked with survivors of all of this before. Those still around are urging us to wake up, but they - like me - are fearing it is growing too late.

In any confrontation or conflict - the majority are going to side with Santa Claus. Human nature and the entirety of human nature’s history make this a fact - save the anomaly that was once the United States of America.

We are under enemy occupation, behind enemy lines and your countrymen -nearly half - welcome it.

Everything you and I have known and assumed would always be there - is changed. We cannot continue thinking inside of a box that has been replaced and is no longer there.

We saw our last open and honest election in 2008. Marxists never leave power without the threat of overwhelming force. Corruption breeds corruption and a corrupt people choose corrupt leaders and coerce the rest of society to embrace evil.

Those are the facts of history.

It’s repeating.
