The characters in the latest example of South Floridas dysfunctional election system recall the Bush v. Gore debacle in 2000 are worthy of a Carl Hiaasen potboiler.
Congressman Allen West, an outspoken tea-party favorite whose district was pushed into largely new territory by redistricting, is claiming that massive voter irregularities are robbing him of his seat.
Democrat Patrick Murphy, who leads West by some 2,000 votes, is trying to stop a full recount of controversial early ballots cast in St. Lucie County. His current victory margin is just large enough to avoid triggering an automatic recall of all precincts and all votes.
Then there is Gertrude Walker, the 32-year-veteran election supervisor of St. Lucie County, who has spent much of the last two weeks explaining why her office completely botched the count. She admitted that her office had acted in haste in issuing election results, and that mistakes were made. Among her mistakes was failing to count 40 of the 94 precincts under her jurisdiction on Election Night and then counting the other 54 twice. Indeed. On Friday, her office announced it had discovered 304 additional early votes left in a box. None had been counted
The news was one reason that Floridas secretary of state has dispatched a team of experts to audit St. Lucies procedures. The St. Lucie Election Canvassing Board voted to approve a complete recount of all the early ballots. It began the recount on Saturday but stopped it at 8 p.m. because the county buildings security system was set to be switched on later that night. Some people complained that the alarms have been switched off in the past to allow county business to continue after hours, but their complaints were ignored. The recount resumed on Sunday morning, but it missed the noon deadline to submit the countys final returns to Floridas secretary of state.
So, on Sunday, the previous resultsthe ones showing Democrat Murphy aheadwere sent to Floridas secretary of state for certification.
Walker has a history of abetting or ignoring sloppy election procedures. In 2003, a state-appointed task force of six election experts found that Mariam Oliphant, the thenSupervisor of Elections in Broward County, was incapable of running her office and counting votes correctly. Among other problems, she had hired a homeless man who refused to count certain ballots.
The task force recommended removing Oliphant from office. The only dissenter was Gertrude Walker, even though local NAACP chapters had urged Oliphant, who like Walker is African American, to step down from her position for reasons of incompetence.
In her own county, Walker dragged her feet at implementing any efforts to remove dead voters, felons, or non-citizens from the voter rolls. Were being very deliberative about it, Walker told the Palm Beach Post in 2004. We want to make sure we dont disenfranchise anyone or even notify someone they are a possible felon unless we have confirmation of it. Earlier this year, Walker delayed sending out letters to non-citizens telling them they should clarify their status or risk being removed from the voter rolls. Even though the list had been developed by the Florida Department of State using federal data, Walker said she didnt trust the validity of the information.
Representative West insists he will seek a full recount in the race, saying confidence in the integrity of the election has been shattered. His legal options may be limited because of the slow-walking maneuvers of the St. Lucie election officials, but heres hoping a court steps in and requires corrective action. Florida cant afford another cloud over its election procedures, and the only way to prevent another counting disaster in the future is to have a full accounting and thorough audit of this years election.

Yup. Typical Democrat corruption.
“confidence in the integrity of the election has been shattered.”
Boy, ain’t that the truth.
This is Allen West’s great opportunity to blow the lid off of blatant Democrat voter fraud not only there in FLA , but nationwide . They are shameless and we all seem to go along with it . Any election official that is found to be involved in anything like this needs to be tarred and feathered and driven out of town on a rail .
Allen , take these Alinsky tactics they are employing and drive it through them until they can taste it
She’s only had 33 years of practice to get it right.
Is your comment on the right thread?
She failed to county 40 precincts out of 94? What a bonehead.
BTTT
Bump!

Ponder this: In another segment of our society, for example sports, stockholders meetings, financial auditors final reports, etc., would there no be fines, penalties and laws broken?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm ?
Okay, then why have there been NO laws established for Federal Election Violations by Election Officials?
Double hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ?
You are correct, sir! This is quite gross...and then some.
Miriam Oliphant got busted but her legacy lives on!
The SoE in St Lucie County got 10,000 more votes than Obama, and those 10,000 came from those who voted for Romney and West. Go figure.

There are massive reports of this kind of criminal activity
(not mischief, not shenanigans- criminal activity) going on all over the U.S during the presidential election.
Reports of machines changing votes from Romney to Obama, eyewitness reports of Republican poll watchers who observed busloads of non-English speaking Somalians in Ohio being instructed to vote Obama- the list is endless.
Romney lost because of this, not any other reason.
Nobody could have won against the fraud planned and perpetrated by the Obama Machine.
Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.

Howie Carr WRKO Boston just had on Ann Coulter, who has become a weekly guest now. He said one precinct had but 7 registered voters but over 200 votes. Where is he getting this? He also said one had 104% voting.
But too he repeated this 140% response in a district when its not that but the terrible erroneous story the whole state had that with the two-page ballot confusion.
Ann let this all go. People have to get things straight and out to make VERY clear sources.
This would be a good time for West to use the race card. Murphy, the white man, is trying to steal the black man’s seat. Maybe West can file a civil rights violation.
Seriously, how can anyone have any faith in this election, with all it’s cheating. They need to throw out all the votes as fradulent and have a new election, supervised by state officials.
Of course, none of this would have been necessary if the RINOs in the FL legislature hadn’t pushed West into this district.
Sounds like Ms. Walker only counted up to a certain selective point to make it appear that Murphy had won. I would think that would be felony fraud.
Every military veteran needs to get behind Col. West.
God bless him if anyone deserves prayers right now it is West!
