I can’t believe you said that. :(
Thank you, dear senator, for giving us David Souter.
“a ground-breaking budget-balancing law...”
THAT was a huge success!
The Act with his name was written by a freshman, unknown fellow name Dan Quayle. Graham and Rudman sponsored it to add name recognition.
Another worthless moderate gone! Good riddance!
Remember Gramm-Rudman, a good idea that everyone ignored?
May he RIP......but as a politician, Sen. Rudman was a classic RINO>
When Rudman saw something he thought should be criticized -- high deficits, Iran-Contra, the Keating five -- he spoke up. That's exactly what one would hope a Senator would do. That's doing his job.
When Rudman left the Senate he took the opportunity to attack the Christian Right, and that created a lot of acrimony, but I don't see much evidence that Rudman went out of his way during his 12 years in the Senate to attack or undermine Reagan or conservatives in general.
He will not be missed.
Rudman could be a pain and a prima donna sometimes, but on the whole he did make a positive contribution to the country. Warren Rudman is largely forgotten by now, but he and his family don't deserve cheap put-downs on the day he died.
I miss him. He always struck me as an honest man.
Rudman correctly understood that it was the spending and not necessarily the taxes that were the root of the problem.
I am privy to the whole story of how Rudman set up old man Sununu & Bush 41 on the Souter pick. It was a vile fraud & done on purpose by Rudman. It’s a long, ugly story that Sununu took much of the fall for when in reality it was very much Rudman’s doing.
I hope you choose to share it at some point
Did he know the mid-night jogger was a disaster or was he of his same judical ilk...
Make No mistake. Ruddman knew exacty what he was doing
With the Souter Nomination.
I hope he enjoys checkers with Snarling Arlen!

I think I wrote about it out here some time back, but Rudman & Souter both lied to governor Sununu & Bush 41 about Souter’s real liberal philosophy. Rudman wanted to make sure the court stayed pro-choice so he sold Souter as a pro-life conservative and convinced Sununu to sell this fiction to Bush 41.
Bush & Sununu should have done more homework, but they trusted Rudman. In private Rudman often mocked how Bush & Sununu fell for this situation. This ruined the friendship between Rudman & Sununu, but Sununu felt so guilty about this perosnal betrayal that his ego would not allow him to address this situation in public hence people think Sununu was the cause of Souter getting on the court.
In the last year or two Sununu has been more open about this, but it’s a sore point he really just tries to avoid. There’s a lot more crap Rudman pulled, but he was a bully and a thug who’s not worth writing anything more about.
Rudman was a pro-choice RINO.
