The huge explosion that flattened homes and killed two people on Nov. 10 in Indianapolis is now being investigated as a homicide case, authorities said at a press conference Monday night.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry appealed to the public for information about a white van that was seen in the area, NBC affiliate WTHR reported. He said the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is assisting with the case.
"While the fire investigation has been progressing, there has been a parallel investigation, not solely focusing on the cause of the explosion but focusing on individuals who may have been responsible once accidental causes were eliminated," Curry said. "That investigation has consisted of numerous interviews with various individuals as well as execution of a number of search."
The interviews and search warrants are why the investigation is considered an active criminal homicide investigation, Curry said...

I live by Southport Rd. and Shelby. We thought a car had come off the road and hit the house. It was unbelievably violent. I know a guy with the gas company, he said it wasn’t caused by gas but that he couldn’t talk about the how they know. He is credible.
Correction - he said it wasn’t a gas “leak.”
“This was a “city” owned gas company.”
Ok,, that sure gives the city an incentive to make this someone else’s fault. At a paltry 250k per household, it gives them about 20 million reasons. This will wind up being a hundred million dollars worth of lawsuits.
The city would love for this to be a homicide, an attempt at arson fraud, or some heater mechanic who did shoddy work.

What is a FEMA camp? A detention facility, internment camp, prison camp or an emergency facility for displaced people?
Alaska, long way from Indy. It is 1. a detention facility for sure. (I’ve done some work inside it. All fencing and construction are prison like and meant to keep people inside. 2. watched like a hawk. (And yes they even use helicopters.) 3. well maintained but not used, for years now.
If you lived around here you would know it is definitely not a welcoming place with heavy surveillance/security. I suggest the next visit to Indy you visit it and take some pictures just to see the response. One more thing, there are black unmarked helicopters around it frequently.

Not as it was in the 90’s anyway. Best i can tell its mostly storage on the shed side. The barracks are there and the aren’t for Amtrak employees. They laid off the vast majority of their workforce there in the 90’s and is not used anything like it once was.
Yeah, a furnace explosion does not make over 21 homes in the neighborhood blocks away uninhabitable. From reading the comments in the first few days even the gas company was almost immediately sure it had nothing to do with the gas or the furnace. The damage was was just way too extensive, and over too widespread an area.
Totally irrelevant.

The users could have gone inland to motels, couldn't they? They had plenty of warning. Why should the government have to supply anything better than tent camps? As far as I'm concerned, tent camps are adequate.
I’m definitely not an arson expert or anything of the like. But, I still have a hard time believing that even if the house filled up with gas it would render an entire neighborhood uninhabitable.
I don’t know what to think about the whole drone strike scenario. There are a lot of witnesses talking about seeing planes flying low all afternoon, and into that night. Some people have even conjectured that maybe it was a meteor...
All I know for sure is that this wasn’t your typical “faulty heater” or “home gas leak” explosion... It was something stronger than that. Also, I find it a little hard to believe that the meter was still in working condition after the explosion. How in the heck wasn’t it melted, or blown apart being attached to the house that was completely blown away?
Like you said though why all the FEDs - and why/how were they on scene so quickly?
I’m sure we’ll hear more in the coming weeks, but I don’t think I’ll ever completely believe this was just an insurance scam type event. I’m not going to make assumptions about what I think it really was though - just not enough information.
PS - Pay no attention to the arctic canine... People really would be shocked if they knew how much they really don’t know. ;)
