Americans donate $8 million to cut national debt
CNN ^ | November 20, 2012 | Olivia Smith

The debate about the national debt has already paid off: Individual Americans pitched in nearly $8 million of their own money to help reduce it in fiscal 2012. That's more than double the total from the year before...

But even this year's hefty total of $7.7 million is barely a drop in the bucket. That sum represents just 0.000007% of the approximately $1.1 trillion deficit the U.S. ran in the latest fiscal year.

Money down a rat hole. You don't put tiny bandaids on a probable mortal wound where the victim's life blood is bleeding out. You stop the bleeding first, and THEN start working to heal it.

Until our gubmit overlords stop running up the debt with huge, historic deficits, this silliness is obviously a waste of money. But hey, for libtards it's all about what feels good at the moment. They probably think they're helping their man-god Obamaclaus so he can keep the free stuff rolling in.

SEE HERE: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20027782-503544.html

There are 365 days in a year, 24 hours in a day, and 60 minutes in an hour. That adds up to a total of 525,600 minutes. Divide that figure into the $3.6 trillion in FY2010 spending and you find that the federal government spends about $6.85 million per minute.

That’s right - the government spends, on average, nearly $7 million every minute. That means the cost-cutting measure yesterday only saved taxpayers enough to cover about five minutes worth of spending - less time than it takes to hold the average congressional vote.

THE MONEY THESE NAIVE FOLKS DONATED GETS *WASTED* BEFORE THEY EVEN FINISH PEEING IN THE BATHROOM.

I wonder how much came from Warren Buffet who has been saying for years that the rich need to "contribute" more to the government? And how much of his wealth will go to the death tax? Wait, I forgot, he's donating it to the Gates Foundation because he believes that Bill Gates will handle it better than that same government he wants to have a bigger slice of everyone else's money.

And who is going to make sure this is all spent on paying down the debt? If handed over to The Fed, they'll absorb it like it was never there...If handed over to the Chinese, they'll call it an insult and ask for all of it...If handed over to Congress, they'll use it for perks...And if given to Obama, he'll hand it over to Michelle for spending money.

Indeed. They could have thrwon every dime spent in every election this year and it wouldn’t have made much of a dent.

HA, Guess those business cards I’ve been handing out worked! LOL

Every time some smug liberal, in person or online, says they should pay more - I say “You Can!” and give them the info...

This is an insignificant and virtually meaningless amount, exept to CNN which wants to use it for propaganda purposes. In most government agencies $7M is not even petty cash. This would be the equivalent of one, very minor government contract. Nobody would even notice it.

Of course the names at the top of the list of “givers” include Buffet, Gates, Turner, Moore, Z (as in Jay Z), etc....

Let’s get past the millions and trillions and put this in perspective. Let’s say your brother-in-law owes $10,000 and you say you want to help. You reach into you pocket and hand him a penney. Proportionally, you have been TWICE as much help as these nimrods.
