Matt Lauer, host of the "Today" show, may be leaving the show involuntarily according to a report published by Radar Online on Wednesday.
Radar reported that a inside source said the writing was on the wall for Lauer, 54, who has often been blamed for the departure of long time co-host turned lead-host, Ann Curry, in June. Since the time Curry was fired from her position, numerous rumors have emerged about Lauer's inability to get along with staff and his need to be surrounded by "yes" men and women.
The source said, "His years-long feuds with former co-hosts Katie Couric, Meredith Vieira and Ann Curry have taken their toll. Everyone has turned against him and Matt is going to be ousted because he’s being blamed for the show’s collapse."

That kind of sets him apart from his co-hosts, most of his guests and probably the majority of the people behind the scenes.
If he in fact waited this long to assert that reality, it's too late.

All of this is clearly true, and there’s an even bigger reason for Lauer’s departure: his $17 million annual salary. When Today was dominating the ratings, that seemed like a bargain; now with Good Morning America leading the pack, Lauer is an expensive liability. I’m guessing that the combined compensation for GMA’s on-camera talent isn’t much more than what Matt is pulling in.
Well, this is good news.
But I expect they will be looking around very hard for someone even worse to take his place.
Rush will be heart broken. He loves to garble Lousey’s last name.
I find him repulsive. He makes my skin crawl.

ITA. I’ve always thought Matt was kind of icky....in a sleazeball sort of way. Never understood his so called attraction.
That said...I have not watched the Today show since 9/11/01. Being on the west coast...after that fateful day, I only watch ‘live’ news in the morning. Not some old entertainment news program.
Lauer has had numerous sex-capades out side of marriage for years!!! You never hear any of it. Good Riddance! I hope they flush hard to get this turd to the waste disposal plant!
