A red state-blue state divorce plan: Secessionists, here's how some of us want to divide the country
The Minneapolis-St. Paul Star-Tribune ^ | November 23, 2012 | Paul Vandevelder

Posted on 11/23/2012 6:42:26 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

We in the blue states hear from the talking heads on Fox News and MSNBC that many of you in the red states are so distressed about the outcome of the elections that you would like to secede from the Union. Now, it seems that at least six of you -- Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina -- have submitted enough signatures (25,000) on petitions to the White House website to merit a formal response, with more petitions on the way.

We wish you the best of luck with this. We feel your pain. If we can speak frankly, it's been coming for a long, long time. The question now is: What's next?

First, we're happy to report that most people here in Oregon, Washington and California think you're really on to something. This marriage has run its course. Too many niggling little things built up over time, driving us all crazy. So let's just stop. It's time to divvy up the china and draft a property settlement. In the spirit of fairness and goodwill, we propose the following as a starting point.

We'll keep the West Coast, Nevada and Hawaii, New York, the rest of the Northeast and all the other states that turned blue on election night. You guys get Texas, Mississippi, the rest of the Confederacy and all the other states that turned red on election night. Alaska can do whatever it wants. It does what it wants anyway.

One caveat here. We've been asked by the citizens of Austin, Texas, to give them sanctuary, so we'll keep Austin as a territorial protectorate, along with Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Samoa, and you can have Key West...

>>>I don’t know why, they were petitioning for the same thing in 04. Lots of FReepers have convenient memory loss but I haven’t forgotten.<<<

My memory loss isn’t convenient. It’s debilitating. I had forgotten completely about the left saying that in 2004. I remember some Hollywood types saying they’d go to Canada.... well, thanks for the reminder.

What you say is true, however, sentiments change. And they’re changing now as is evidenced by the petition drives and the discussion of the subject.

Few people in 1760 would have bet that the American colonies would divorce from Britain less than 20 years later.

Looking at the county-by-county election map, there were a couple of counties along the coast that went red. Or blue according to this map.

Thanks for posting that in the right colors :-)

Has anyone calculated the actual land area controlled by the competing ideologies?

It looks to me like RED/COMMIE is about 1/5 or 1/4 of total USA territory.

There’s a sizeable patch of liberalism within about a 100 mile radius of Dubuque. What’s up with that? Seems out of place.

Considering there was no honest election, all based on fraud! I personally would like to see the registered voter rolls and compare those rolls to the votes cast! All these places where voters were supposedly vetted on vote day, well... There is no possible way a non-registered voter is legal to vote, none!

By using this map... how... did the “end” results produce the outcome?

I like the comment about Alaska :-)

Population density and rampant voter fraud.

"We've been asked by the citizens of Austin, Texas, to give them sanctuary, so we'll keep Austin as a territorial protectorate..."

The hell you will. You can have your worthless blue minions, and we'll keep the sacred ground of Texas, thank you very much.

With the exception of the Northeast, it looks like population density map.

The more I think my way through the concept of secession, the more I like the idea. Here’s why:

When the regime begins to push our people harder than they’re now doing, and when the coming economic hardships and regulatory insanity cause even greater levels of anger, disillusionment, and resolve amongst the people to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, I think we may see one or more red state legislatures finally draft Acts of Secession, which will then be signed by all legally vested parties and presented to Washington.

Should Texas lead the way to the exits, I predict that at least half a dozen other states will follow in rapid succession, joining Texas in a new American Union. This would all be done without a single drop of blood shed between the rebellious states and the federals. This is the 21st century, not the 19th. No blood will be spilled over this purely political divorce.

Once several red states have disengaged themselves from the parasitic maw of Washington, the old union states will begin to falter, as the economic engine that feeds the Socialist system in this country will be too starved to meet its obligations. More red states will flee as the days darken. Collapse and calamity in the blue states will ensue, as generationally crippled millions feed upon each other, then storm the gates of power, demanding to be fed.

Sheer bedlam will rule, and the statist infrastructure will crumble under the weight of too little real production, and too many takers to sustain.

When the old union reaches that level of failure, we can expect to see passionate entreaties to the former red states to reunite with the old union in a restored constitutional republic. Leftist ideals will be cast aside and burned, as reality proves what falsehoods they always were. Imagine an entire nation ‘mugged by reality.’

It’s at this point, that I see the re-unification of the country, and a restoration of our constitutional republic.

sorry but if you live in a blue state you will have to vote with your feet.

Too true.

You folks who've been procrastinating had better get a move on. As in, U-Haul.

To this day, the Confederados proudly celebrate their heritage. Isn't that better than sitting around whining about the United States and talking secession nonsense?

No, and it's not "nonsense". Run if you want, but most of us have our feet firmly planted on OUR ground, and we intend to defend it.

The secessionist thing is absurd.

Hey, that's a great argument.

Not.

80% of the counties in the US are Red. Without San Francicaco,LA and NYC, this is a red country.

Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC -- also blue.
