A Better question is : ‘how did anyone expect Romney to win after he insulted half the country?’

An even better question would be, "If (as you alluded) half the country is a pack of moochers, bums, deadbeats, and parasites, how could a conservative who advocates smaller government EVER win?"

It sounds to me like you think America is dead in the water.
Unfortunately, I tend to agree.

No, a real candidate in my view would have said (told the voters) that voters are too good to be satisfied with food stamps and welfare and that they will reject O for that. He would have tried to convince voters who have been crushed by Obama 's policies to be disgusted with the status quo by rising them above it in their minds. "Voters will reject... because they are proud......'
In contrast a loser like Romney told the voters on a secretly recorded tape :” Don't be surprised if I don't get elected because the voters are a bunch of freeloading moochers who just want your money so you better dig deep in your pockets so I can try to hold them off:

Romney deserves our contempt.
