Still scrambling to develop a strategy for the future in the wake of the 2012 presidential election, the Republican Party is quite clearly at a crossroads. As America dives headlong into the next term of Obama's America, it is critical for the Republicans to take the right path at this crossroads, which can be summed up with this paradigm: There is no justification for the GOP to continue running moderate candidates for president.......

...The culture may be too far gone down the leftist yellow brick road to turn back on its journey to a European-style, social democratic Oz where their wizard in the White House works the levers of government behind his curtain of urban coolness, hip hop charm, and celebrity mojo. Because our politics is downstream from our corrupt, morally relativistic, and juvenile culture, the American electorate may have passed the point where it can respond positively to the conservative message from the GOP during any future election cycle. We won't know for sure until such a conservative surge is attempted again, but we do know from history that moderate Republicans are not likely to have a smashing record of presidential victories in the future. Thus, moderate Republicanism must be laid to rest. To do this, the Republican Party needs to exclusively offer well-spoken candidates who are deeply rooted in traditional conservative values and principles. The Republican Party must once and for all, in Ronald Reagan's words, paint with bold colors so that the American people can clearly see with the classical, elegant palette of conservatism contrasted with the slapdash, trash art of progressivism, thereby pressing the electorate to respond to those images either with vigorous rejection or passionate acceptance.

When Ted Cruz threw his hat into the political arena to replace Texas' U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison he was considered a very long shot against the (still) powerful sitting Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst. Dewhurst had the backing, the money, the power to twist arms and to command endorsements or "neutrality" but he DIDN'T have "Tea Party" support (grass roots enthusiasm) or the votes needed to win - he could not articulate conservatism like Ted Cruz.

Texas, with its strong economy and the national spotlight on border security and illegal immigration is at political ground zero. With the DNC and MSM grooming the "charming" Obamaesque, socialist mayor of San Antonio Julian Castro for higher office, with Sen. Ted Cruz ready to lead and articulate conservatism in the U.S. Senate (opposing Dem Leader Harry Reid and Pres. Obama), with George P. Bush (son of Jeb and Columba Bush) relocated to Texas and recently (11-7-2012) filing papers to run for elected office -- it looks like Texas is shaping up to be a battle ground of candidates and political positions - socialist, conservative and moderate.

Marco Rubio's got a bunch of Frum-esque "professional Republicans" talking him up (along with Jeb and George P.). These guys have actually proposed amending the Constitution to remove the Article II bar to Barky et al., in order to let Rubio and Bobby Jindal stand for the Presidency. Bad idea, but they're putting it about.

Looks like "being an American" just doesn't have any cachet any more. Cool, modern America demands Borats for its candidates, I guess.

I "guess" we're looking for a leader who hasn't forgotten what being American means - someone exceptional [one who believes the country and our constitution is also exceptional] who can explain it to those who have become soft in their conservatism.

Ted Cruz won the primary runoff for the Republican nomination for Texas U.S. Senate with a 14-point margin over Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.

In the general election, Ted Cruz was elected with 4,456,654 votes (56.6 percent) over Dem candidate Paul Sadler who got 3,183,359 votes (40.5 percent) - Cruz by 16.1%

Presidential election: Romney in Texas (57.2) Obama in Texas (41.4) - Romney 15.8%

It seems to me a great many conservatives don’trealize that it is foolish to consider “who’s next”. This regime will not and can not allow the peaceful handoff of power to folks who might expose their crimes. The sooner we all deal with this reality the sooner we can prepare for what really comes next. To pretend the process or the country are still running normally is delusional and denies too many hard facts. The Ballot Box is broken and those in power have every motivation to at least continue at this level but will probably escalate. They have no motivation to “fix it”. Staying out of prison (or worse) is a powerful motivation to escalate to add to their comfort. Continuing to run at the ball pretending that this time Lucy will actually hold it is insanity.

We had some of those types of candidates in the primaries...Somehow, Romney won...We hear all of this talk of vote tampering in the general election...I'm not so convinced it didn't take place as well in the primaries...I know of no one who voted or supported Romney...

Polietly have to disagree> You’re absolutely historically correct about Reagan. (I think that’s who you mean) But the battlefield has changed. There’s been a MAJOR change in the media. Now blatantly Progressive not just mildly liberal. The demographics have changed. The cities have become much more influencial. (code words here) The education system has conditioned two more generations with the evils of capitalism and our past history.

We now live in a Socialist Democracy with all that implies. Individual freedom has been replaced by the collective. We have survaliance drones watching private citizens for “signs” they could commit a crime. See anything wrong with that?

I kinda happy I won’t live long enough to see all the damage. I say have a party while you still can.
