Republican opposition to the possible nomination of Susan Rice to be secretary of state is showing signs of cracking.

Arizona Sen. John McCain now says he'd be willing to meet with Rice, the current U.N. ambassador, and consider her much-scrutinized explanation about how the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, unfolded.

McCain has said GOP senators would do "whatever is necessary" to block Rice if President Barack Obama were to nominate her to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton at the State Department.

On Sunday, McCain was asked on "Fox News Sunday" if Rice could change his mind. McCain said "sure" and that he'd like to meet with her.

McCain and other Republicans have accused the White House of distorting the deadly Benghazi attack for political gain.

Article should ready RINO opposition to Rice begins to crack. Never forget that McCain is the weasel that teamed with John Traitor Kerry to normalize trade relations with Vietnam, when we still had hundreds of POW/MIAs still unaccounted for, and reliable sources knowing their whereabouts. McCain belittled anyone that said there were live POWs left in Vietnam and on the senate floor called the wife of a POW a liar for insinuating that Congress was not doing enough to get to the bottom of the POW/MIA issue. Hollering at the lady, he started beating his fists on the table, basically cussed her out, and then went barnstorming out of the room. Making a dollar for himself and his traitor buddy Kerry was more important that solving the POW/MIA issue in Vietnam. Never trust him. My prediction is he will vote to confirm the incompetent, inexperienced Rice as Sec of State and his traitor buddy John Kerry as Sec of Defense.

Makes one wonder why the GOP is still in any kind of power. McCain is in charge?

But he’s insane

We exalt him for having been shot down over VN, nothing more.

We don’t know what he did in prison.

Of course they begin to crack.

They are Pubbies. They fold. That’s what they do. It’s in their nature.

They just want to be liked by the popular kids across the aisle.

The State Department has enough dead weight now it does not need Susan Rice - she will add little and we she know is easily manipulated. Where does she stand on protecting the United States Constitution? McCain is not to be trusted.

It was inevitable.

He was cheerleading to get involved in the Libyan mess in the first place. There was only so far he could take this before it started to splash back on him.

If we have a tax-evading Secretary of the Treasury, why not a Diplomat-killing Secretary of State..? And a Prez from Kenya.

Full quiver.

Can these losers stand firm on ANYTHING? This is the easiest thing to oppose in the history of the country. The Democrat defense of racism and sexism is unbelievably weak, and Susan Rice is unbelievably incompetent.

Aren’t diplomats (paricularly to the U.N.) supposed to be professional liars? For this incompetence alone, Rice is disqualified...

McCain’s opposition to Rice is cracking just like his opposition to TARP in the midst of the 2008 election campaign. McCain is, at best, a senile old man who is incompetent to be a US Senator. Of course the “incompetent” label could be applied to about 80 of the 100 Senators.

McCain is one person—or two if you consider his puppydog Lindsay Graham. But the headline implies a bunch or them are cracking. If they cowtow to O’bummer because the DEMs play the race card again, we’ve got a long 4 yrs ahead-if not more. If it’s any consolation, McLame may be meeting with her so he can justify his vote against her.

This is Yahoo news if it was really a legitimate objective news otganization they’d be interviewing Connie Rice and aksing her if she was ever ordered to cover for Bush.

That won’t happen because first of all it would dispel the racist charge, and secondly brings into focus a state department head if approved won’t tell the American people the truth

Repeating a wedge propaganda piece that is passing itself off as an “insiders” news report should be called for what it is.... propaganda..

Is the entire GOP being blackmailed? The Supreme Court obviously is.

Right on! This is what the other faction of this corrupt "Two-Party Cartel" is supposed to do. Since most all are owned by the elites, which always get their way in the end, the job of the (R)s is to talk the point & then give in. Then talk it up as if they care about conservatism around election time but leave us conservatives high & dry the day after. A pox on all of them.
