The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.
H. L. Mencken

IMHO “Global Warming” is just another one of these hobgoblins.

I remember it too.I can still see the thermometer exploding,
the literal-minded way it used to on the old TV shows.

Global warming will inconvenience millions. The next ice age will kill billions, and it’s overdue.

What I’m afraid for is that man made global warming is going to cause global cooling. We need to raise taxes or we are all gonna die.

The situation is so far advanced that WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US, EVEN IF WE DOUBLE OR TRIPLE TAXES.

This is a scientifically verifiable fact!

Thus we must end all private property and confiscate all wealth in order to make the end as comfortable as possible for as many as possible.

It is the New American Way.

If it’s cooling does that mean that we all need to buy big SUV’s so we put more carbon in the air? Also now instead of a carbon tax we need to be paid when we use more carbon. I think I like global cooling.

It seems the “received wisdom” to project that the carbon dioxide released by human activity will catastrophically step up global surface temperatures, when the bald reality is that man’s capability of “energy auditing” the globe is nowhere close to being able to posit any analytical prediction. The globe has many mechanisms that could easily dampen out any single-factor effect. The folks who allegedly bend spoon handles via telekinesis have a better claim to rigorous scientific proof than the warmists do.

The whole aim of journalism is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be further warned of danger) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.
Amazing how those things coincide, isn’t it!!
The interesting thing, though, is to observe that it is only socialist politics, and not so-called “conservative, right wing” politics which is promoted by journalism institutionally and which has a revolving door relationship with journalism. There is no example of a “conservative” political activist ever having obtained a job as an “objective” journalist. George Stephanopolous is a working journalist in good standing, but he has not changed a bit from when he was a Clinton political hack.

So when Mencken spoke of “the whole aim of practical politics” being to alarm the public with imaginary hobgoblins, he was either being cynical, or he meant that politics aligned with the interests of so-called “objective” journalism was and is the only kind of politics which is practical. And after this last election, who can dispute the latter interpretation?

Journalism and Objectivity

Time to thin the herd any way; the northeastern tier of states will be the ones buried under a mile of ice. Just think about it; no New York City, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Madison, Detroit, and a lot of other places that don't have people intelligent enough to see the writing on the wall or help themselves.

I believe in colder climates you have a larger percentage of a stronger society, more people who survive the cold, become acclimated, work with it and adjust their diet usually are stronger and liver longer. In other words a cooler climate weeds out the weaker. having lived in Alaska for the last 20 years I can see the differences in the culture against the people say from LA or Houston.
************************************************
While that’s true, the reverse is also true. People acclimated to the hotter and more humid climes will thrive while those from the cold climes like Alaska, Canada, etc., will suffer a lot.

In early 1960s, my FIL (oldest of 9 kids) invited two of his brothers and their wives (they all lived in Racine WI) to visit us in the DFW area in July. We took them all over the area for several days. They thought they would die if not in the car or house with a/c.

When my daughter was less than a year old, the FIL took us on a drive up to Racine to show off his grandkid... in February! We were there for several days, with temps at -24F in the daytime! ....As a Native Born Texan, I spent a lot of time when we were indoors wearing my Navy peacoat and layers of clothes while sitting by the heating vents, while the locals sat around in light sweaters eating kringle and drinking coffee.

I enjoy reading your postings about happenings in Alaska.

I used to be an oil rig mechanic in the mid 80’s in NE Texas when it was near 100F with almost as high humidity, totoally friggin miserable, I basically reached the limit with only a 30 degree increase above the standard normal 72F working temps. Just cannot work much unless the humidity goes down, so I went west and worked in 127F temps in Vegas at less than 10% humidity, doable.

But I can work in -50 temps as long as I have the clothing, a much further temperature spread. I can and do work in the range of zero to freezing without a coat for short periods as I wear hi tech thermal underwear, conversely I cannot realistically wear anything to fight the heat, so going cold was the logical decision. Most people I run across just simply cannot acclimate to sub zero temps while I know I can adapt to real summer temps in a couple of days.

So in ending this discussion living in the cold isn’t for everyone, usually the weaker folks complain and quit. Such as how many come to Alaska and not even through the six month long winter bail out and leave.

I worked on a workover rig in North Dakota in the 80s and had a great taskmaster of a boss who thought exactly as you do...he always said he preferred working the bitter Dakota winters to the heat of summer: “I can always put more clothes on, but I can only take so many off.”

Other warm periods, climate optimums during Minoan, Roman, and Medieval times, and of course, the modern warm period, have all resulted in increased food productivity, lower death rates, and greater all-around prosperity.

The left side of the bell curve hates all of those things. It causes them painful feelings of envy. When the economy booms, they are exposed as losers. This isn't about the climate, it's about treating their envy via the destruction of all things that cause their envy.

I say you can work better in extreme cold than extreme. Heat........it is ac in the south and southwest.....people do not go out in the extreme heat...the warming there talking about is a few degrees....

Don’t worry.

Our “lord & savior” Obama (see the Jamie Foxx quote on the Drudge Report) has been studying on it for years.

GovernmentS funded global warming research for decades.

These Governments spent Billion$ (if not Trillion$ in today's dollars) to fund a hoax. Clearly now the evidence points to a mini Ice Age not global warming. This shows socialism/government doesn't work.

What are all these liberals and stupid brainwashed public going to say now when we see cooling coming in the following years? Yes it is the sun that determines climate on Earth not CO2 . But of course they chose to blame CO2 BECAUSE capitalism and specifically American industry (oil and coal) produced CO2 not because it was any science.
So now they are trying to change it to “climate change” ( “Oh did we say global warming for 20 years well we meant climate change”) . So they got lightbulbs banned for a hoax. and only a few of us on the Internet see the truth.

The media and governments have brainwashed the public so that now 68% believe the “science” of global warming. We live in a false reality created by the media. Also all this global warming “science’ should lead us to question other government funded science.

Decades of government funding a hoax to shows that government/socialism doesn't work.
