Reid: Republicans Must Turn “Happy Talk” On Revenues Into Action
United States Senate Democrats, ^ | Nov 27,2012 | Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

Posted on 11/27/2012 4:20:28 PM PST by mdittmar

Washington, D.C. - Nevada Senator Harry Reid made the following remarks on the Senate floor today regarding efforts to reach a balanced, bipartisan agreement to avert the fiscal cliff. Below are his remarks as prepared for delivery:

Too often, it is a challenge finding common ground in Washington.

But as we negotiate a path back from the fiscal cliff, we should also recognize when Democrats and Republicans agree.

We agree taxes should not go up for anyone making less than $250,000 a year – 97 percent of small businesses and 98 percent of middle-class families.

With common ground in sight, we should be able to act today to avert the fiscal cliff for millions of families and business.

Even if we disagree on whether to end tax breaks for the wealthiest two percent of Americans, we should agree to hold the middle class harmless – and do it now.

A single vote in the House of Representatives would get the job done.

Unfortunately, there’s one obstacle standing between Congress and compromise: Grover Norquist.

I have come to the conclusion that all democrats are pigs. I am so sick of them blaming Republicans for everything that goes/has gone wrong and taking credit for anything that occasionally goes right. Democrats have NO CONSCIENCE! (PS-sorry to insult pigs with the comparison)

Does anyone think there will be spending cuts besides defense and embassy security?

I hope you're referring to both politicians and voters...

I have nothing but contempt for the former and no respect nor patience for the latter.

We can't raise enough "revenue" to cover the exponential numbers coming down the pike.

I wonder where Mr. Reid thinks he's going to hide when the fiscal chickens come home to roost and there is no longer any pretense of rule-of-law?

It is becoming increasingly evident that the Washingtonians intend to steal every last dime from the productive class and redistribute the cash to the rabble in order to maintain their power and perks.

It's time to start thinking about a final solution to the Washingtonian question.

I have come to the conclusion that all democrats are pigs.

Democrats are merely the communist faction of the Washingtonians.

Republicans are the blue blood country club banker faction of the Washingtonians.

Nothing comes from DC other than higher taxes and more restrictions on our freedoms.

European Kings and Queens moved their courts to different parts of their realms.

The productive class are now all slaves to DC and the Federal apparatchiks in Maryland and Virginia.

Lincoln murdered the Republic and waged war on the Sons of the Founders.

The greatest threat to the Liberty and Prosperity of the productive class are not a bunch of demented ragheads in the middle east, but the Federal apparatus.

The only way to increase revenue to treasury is to cut taxes and regulation.

Good luck with that.

“Come get it, Twinkletoes. ;-)”

cough cough... twinkeltoes happens to be the leader of the republican party and the speaker of the house....

My recommendation... save us the torture, cave no and just don’t lie to us like you did last time Mr Boner.

If the GOP had half a brain they would pass a bill that taxed individuals 250+ at the clinton rates exempt small business, tax individuals 100% for 1M+ exempting small business and watch Obama swallow his tongue.

Seems the place to start would be to have Obama submit a budget, and have Congress debate it, and submit counter budgets. It’s hard to deal when everything is just talk and bluster. Let the Obama trash put their economic plans down on paper.
