MILLER: Harry Reid goes nuclear

Democrat’s power grab takes away minority Republicans’ rights

Forget about bipartisanship; Harry Reid has decided there’s no option that goes too far if it means diluting the influence of Republicans. The Senate majority leader plans to break with long-standing tradition in January by rewriting the chamber’s rules to silence the Republican minority. It’s a shortsighted maneuver, because it means Democrats will have no input in the legislative process when they find themselves out of power in the future.

The hostilities spilled into the open on Monday and Tuesday with a rare, heated series of floor debates between Mr. Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell over filibuster reform. The Republican leader said on the floor Tuesday, “Here we are with this explosive nuclear option being thrown into the chamber at a time when we ought to be turning the election off and trying to come together to solve the biggest problem … the fiscal cliff and the nation’s seemingly hopeless deficit and debt situation.”

Mr. Reid, leader of the least productive Senate session ever, claims his changes will make the body more “efficient.” For the first time in history, the Democratic leader wants to change the rules with a simple majority vote instead of the currently required two-thirds supermajority. This is referred to as the “nuclear option” because it empowers the majority to alter at whim and without bipartisan support the way the Senate runs.

This is a very bad state of affairs for the nation as a whole, and cannot be beneficial even to the perverted objectives of the Current Occupant of the White Hut. Even Valerie Jarrett must be somewhat unnerved while watching the antics of Senator Palpatine.

Agreed it's bad for the nation...

In what way is this not beneficial to Obama ?

If Reid gets the filibuster rules changed to a simple majority, they can pass any damn thing they want...

President Jarrett is probably squealing with delight on the prospect of complete and total control of 2/3 of the government without restraint...and the lapdog media barking at the House controlled GOP everyday

Forward on...

Maybe after the recent fraudulent election, Harry knows the rats will never lose again. He knows the media will step in and investigate and that the Republicans are too cowardly to do so.

Hey Harry!

DICTATORS are “Efficient”!!

With YOUR agenda, the LAST thing we want you to be is “efficient”.

If they do this, the senate will effectively become like the House. Not only will the minority power have less power, the individual senators themselves will also lose quite a pit of power. Which makes it odd that they’d actually follow through on this, rather than come up with some Gang of 14 type of compromise,

” - - - and without bipartisan support the way the Senate runs. - - - “

Looks like Lazy Harry Reid is dropping the old BiPartisan Cave-In vote from his toolkit.

The Senate RINOs must really have Lazy Harry worried!

Republicans should stop cooperating
on routine business.

“The entire Senate Democrat caucus is in on the deal, and they have become essentially so corrupt, they will go along with almost anything that Senator Palpatine insists upon.”
**********
The Dems are power hungry maniacs who will stop at nothing to gain complete control. They clearly have no respect for the Constitution or Senate traditions. It makes you wonder what their future intentions will be and if there is any way to stop them.

Where is the Tea Party? We need a massive march on Washington before things get totally out of hand. Time to take it to the streets.

I think Harry Reid would rather die before he would let the Senate actually do something ,how did so much power get in the hands of Senate Majority Leader

Disagree. I think he's getting ready to do something, something that Barack the Destroyer has asked him to do.

A population of 311 million people and three or four people stand in the way of this Country recovering from the recession, and becoming strong again and Harry Reid is one of them.

Paging Mitch Rapp.

I hope the GOP House has a firm response (ie., changes its rules in kind) to that sick fossil Reid if he indeed “goes nuclear”. I know there’s no filibuster or “super majority” issue in the House, but the Republicans can certainly make life even more miserable for the minority rats.

There’s no reference to the US in Revelation.

A friend and I were discussing this very subject over the weekend.

Come Lord Jesus...

I think it’s bluster.

If Reid really is that shortsighted, hopefully he’ll be regretting it in 2 years.

The Electorate blessed Harry Reid’s actions and gifted him with two more Democrat Senators.

He runs the show and the Sheeple love every minute of it.

Best we can hope for is a massive sinkhole swallowing the Ritz Carlton where Harry lives while he is fast asleep.

You are correct in that America is better off if the Senate does nothing.
Don't change a thing. The Cowardly Repubs will cave at the first invite to
the buffet in the basement.

The government used our money to build a bunker for major preps to save the life of Hussein and Reid

I never thought about that till you wrote it.
The Goverment is the largest Prepper of them all.
So much for naysayers.

I said, “The government used our money to build a bunker for major preps to save the life of Hussein and Reid”

You said, “I never thought about that till you wrote it.
The Government is the largest Prepper of them all. So much for naysayers.”

That hit me one day when a reporter talked about the construction across the street from the White House. He said they were expanding the underground bunker for Hussein. He goes into a tunnel under the White House and the tunnel goes across the street and down the street some into the bunker where there is water, food, beds, “hospital” (a surgeon has to be there), etc..

I thought “You (Hussein) took my money and built that, yet you say preppers are suspect possible terrorists. If that is true, what are you with those mega preps?” And, I thought, “I am as important as you are, so I'll use my money and save my life myself.”

So, yes, the government is the biggest prepper in this country but they don't care if WE die. (Screw them, let's live.)
