The Coming Fall and Eventual Rebirth of America
American Thinker ^ | November 27,2012 | Frank Ryan

Posted on 11/27/2012 7:54:17 PM PST by Hojczyk

The hope that many of us had that the nightmare of the Obama presidency would end faded into the night on November 6th. In reality though, "hope" was not very much of a plan.

In the experiences that I have had assisting companies and organizations avoid bankruptcy, there is a very predictable pattern that organizations face when they are dealing with serious financial problems.

The pattern involves economic growth and prosperity followed by overspending. From overspending and excess comes a period of denial that anything must change to solve the problem. From denial comes failure. If the failure is accepted and dealt with growth is restored and the cycle begins again. If failure is not accepted, the organization will cease to exist.

The sheer disappointment and almost melancholy reactions to the Obama reelection made me realize that the American people are no different in their reactions than the employees and managers of the companies that I am attempting to save.

In any plan to resurrect an economy, as Mitt Romney proposed in his five point plan, a majority of people must first come to grips with the reality of the difficulties that they face. While the difficulties may have been obvious to those of us who describe ourselves as fiscal conservatives, the election results convinced me that the American people have not yet reached that same conclusion.

We are a creative and vibrant people who believe in Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Those three magical ingredients will fuel our rebirth. It is sad, though, that we need a rebirth when death was avoidable.

America is gone but the traditions will be seen elsewhere, if civilization survives.

Give nuclear war a chance. Our parasites conveniently organize themselves into high density targets. A megaton here, a megaton there and we'll have little glass parking lots to park our SUVs on.

Jeremiah 7:16, "Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee."

Jeremiah 11:13-14, "For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal. 14 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble."

Even though what you quoted is Old Testament, and meant for the nation of Judah, yes, I am inclined to agree with you. This country has done so much wrong that I see judgment on the horizon. It's coming, very soon.....

Historically ... after collapse ... killed by all sides ...if you guessed the cast of characters who have their hands out, you guessed correctly.

A real eye-opener for me personally .... the "we're gonna die" folks in the streets after Sandy, waiting for Obama/FEMA/The Gov't to save them. The eye-opener was not so much that they were doing this, although it clearly showed exactly what will happen with the majority of the masses who don't take responsiblity for their own lives. The eye-opener was that my heart was hardened to their pleas to an extent that surprised me because normally I care about people in distress. This time ... not so much. Very sorry for their misfortune, but the ones I saw on the TV .... go to Obama for what you need, don't cry to me. Of course, there is an article out about the lady who made a lovely picture op with Obama hugging her and telling her that she would get help "immediately" .... she's still waiting. When the collapse happens, it's going to be CWII - for food in particular ... and folks who haven't thought about surviving without electricity & thus heat/AC, working appliances (lights, can openers, fridge/freezer, etc.) are going to be mentally losing it as well.

The greatness that was America, once lost, will never recover.

Unless we, as a nation, repent and turn our eyes back to God, you are correct. Americans have shaken their fist at God and said, "we don't want you"! And now God will give us what we want. He will withdraw His grace and we will sink into depravity and suffering as a nation.

If we suffer a total collapse it has been estimated that in the U.S.A. 200,000,000 (Two hundred million) will not survive the first year. Worldwide, the toll will probably be proportional so no nation will be strong enough to wrest rule of the world. The UN will probably die also.

The U.S.A. survivors will be those who have prepared and most all of them are conservatives. I expect the return of a Constitutional government with the Constitution in place. Prayerfully, the Democrats will not be in the majority.

“He tells us that after the crash the pain will bring electorate to reality and they will turn to conservative solutions. I do not believe that for a minute.”

“I doubt if the next downturn will provide an epiphany to the electorate, most likely it will cause the country to lurch even further left.”

You’re correct. Until the election I agreed with the author, that in a crash people would come to their senses, but I’ve come to realize just the opposite. When the crash happens it will be blamed on CAPITALISM and most people will buy it.

It's certain ...

Nothing is certain but the will of God. Human civilizations come and go, its true, but if God was willing to spare Sodom if he could only find 10 righteous people, if he was willing to spare Ninevah if only they would listen to Jonah, if he was willing to be patient with Israel even after 10 out of 12 spies had decided it couldn't be done, then it is a fool's bet to wager against the power of God to bring revival to this land as he has done before.

My sister passed away recently, and I came into some old, old books that have been passed down through our family for generations. I found one book among them describing a forebear of mine named Caleb. He was a circuit riding Metodist preacher, and his story tells of those amazing days when the power of God moved among the ungodly of his day, one small snapshot of a great national revival God was initiating, one that changed America's future for the better.

So yes, things do look grim. We are up against giants, and if we were alone, if there were no God to whom we could appeal for help, I would be inclined to agree with you.

But there is a God, and he has shown us mercy in the past, even when we had lost our way, even when we didn't deserve the help. We have always been sinners. Nothing new in that. But we have at times repented, and God has been there for us. Why? That's who he is. My dad used to say, if you want to know what someone will do, look at what they have done. That applies to God as much as anyone. He has judged the unrepentant, but he has forgiven and blessed and waited patiently for those who turn from their false gods and seek Him in spirit and in truth, with all their heart, whether as individuals or as nations.

So yes, we do have serious problems. But we should not add to our idolatries and corruptions by succumbing to the grave sin of despair. It is the antithesis of faith. This world is not our home, but while we are here, we are to "occupy till he comes." We do not stop obeying God or seeking his righteousness, just because some little tin frankenweenie is shaking his tiny little fist at us. To us, he is a giant, but to God he is a bug that can be squished in a moment, if it pleases God to do so. There is simply no reason for despair. God is still in control. Be wise. Prepare. And believe.

You apparently do not read the same history that I do.

Adams was NOT wrong.

He was historically, and biblically - correct and prophetic.

There is NO instance I can find in history of a people having liberty and losing it to their own gluttony, hedonism and indifference, ever regaining what they lost.

Ever.

What comes much later after a people go into bondage - is totally different than what they once had. Most never live to see a semblance of freedom again.

Once the anomaly of America is removed from the world stage - what we understood of liberty, will never appear again. That too - is biblical and historical in context.

I’ll take the wisdom of the Founders over what passes as knowledge and wisdom today.

<< Revelation 18 >>
English Standard Version
The Fall of Babylon

1 After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was made bright with his glory. 2 And he called out with a mighty voice,

“Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!
She has become a dwelling place for demons,
a haunt for every unclean spirit,
a haunt for every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast.
3 For all nations have drunk
the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality,
and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her,
and the merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living.”

4 Then I heard another voice from heaven saying,

“Come out of her, my people,
lest you take part in her sins,
lest you share in her plagues;
5 for her sins are heaped high as heaven,
and God has remembered her iniquities.
6 Pay her back as she herself has paid back others,
and repay her double for her deeds;
mix a double portion for her in the cup she mixed.
7 As she glorified herself and lived in luxury,
so give her a like measure of torment and mourning,
since in her heart she says,
‘I sit as a queen,
I am no widow,
and mourning I shall never see.’
8 For this reason her plagues will come in a single day,
death and mourning and famine,
and she will be burned up with fire;
for mighty is the Lord God who has judged her.”

9 And the kings of the earth, who committed sexual immorality and lived in luxury with her, will weep and wail over her when they see the smoke of her burning. 10 They will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say,

“Alas! Alas! You great city,
you mighty city, Babylon!
For in a single hour your judgment has come.”

11 And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo anymore, 12 cargo of gold, silver, jewels, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, scarlet cloth, all kinds of scented wood, all kinds of articles of ivory, all kinds of articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble, 13 cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.

14 “The fruit for which your soul longed
has gone from you,
and all your delicacies and your splendors
are lost to you,
never to be found again!”

15 The merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, will stand far off, in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud,

16 “Alas, alas, for the great city
that was clothed in fine linen,
in purple and scarlet,
adorned with gold,
with jewels, and with pearls!
17 For in a single hour all this wealth has been laid waste.”

And all shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off 18 and cried out as they saw the smoke of her burning,

“What city was like the great city?”

19 And they threw dust on their heads as they wept and mourned, crying out,

“Alas, alas, for the great city
where all who had ships at sea
grew rich by her wealth!
For in a single hour she has been laid waste.
20 Rejoice over her, O heaven,
and you saints and apostles and prophets,
for God has given judgment for you against her!”

21 Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying,

“So will Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence,
and will be found no more;
22 and the sound of harpists and musicians, of flute players and trumpeters,
will be heard in you no more,
and a craftsman of any craft
will be found in you no more,
and the sound of the mill
will be heard in you no more,
23 and the light of a lamp
will shine in you no more,
and the voice of bridegroom and bride
will be heard in you no more,
for your merchants were the great ones of the earth,
and all nations were deceived by your sorcery.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints,
and of all who have been slain on earth.”

"But we should not add to our idolatries and corruptions by succumbing to the grave sin of despair. It is the antithesis of faith."

Who is despairing? The loss of the United States, especially when it is so corrupted and repulsive to God, is nothing to despair.

"For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ..."

I don't see any sin in refusing to put faith in a nation of belly-god worshipers and enemies of salvation.P
