Personally, I hope Obama does this. I'm tired of waiting; let's get it over with.

...and here I thought *I* was the only one! It was a tragic day. I took all my guns camping, because I like to clean them out in the woods, in the fresh air. When in transit across the lake to the next campsite, my canoe overturned and all were lost. I still tear up about it.

Three posts in one. As someone who’s done plenty of website work, I’ve never seen that happen. Except here.

He legally can’t do it.
The author doesn’t understand what the NFA is. They would have to create a class for semi-automatic firearms through an act of Congress for the NFA before he could do it as semi-auto firearm do not fit into any current catagory.
However, if he did do so, contrary to Federal law...he’d have to offer a general amnesty of the NFRTR including machine guns. He cannot do a limited Amnesty as that is outlawed specifically in the 1968 GCA. Only a General Amnesty of the NFRTR is authorized except by an act of Congress. He dares not open that door.
I DARE the administration to go down this road. We’ll have an end to the MG ban and a few other nice little things that the anti’s wet their panties just thinking about.

Perhaps he could combine the "ban" with confiscation of existing semi-automatics and hi-cap magazines, and begin a vigorous enforcement on
April 19th to keep with the American tradition.

They say there is 30 feet of muck down there. could swallow everything. I'd say let's test that theory with a couple hundred legislators.

I’d really like to pick up an ar15 to add to our modest “arsenal”, but the prices are already going up faster than I can save for one.
Been looking at getting one of the 80% lower receivers and doing the finish machining myself. It’s doable, but still, in total, the AR is an expensive rifle to own (although admittedly likely worth it - that doesn’t help me come up with the cash).
Any FReepers built their own SA rifles? Is there another SA I could obtain/build at a better price that would be worth considering? I’ve read the AKs are pretty easy to build due to their sloppy tolerances and I’m starting to look into those, but I’m still learning.

I have never lost a gun in a boating accident. Good on ya. I have never lost a gun either and these posts about losing them in a boating accident weren't funny ten years ago when they started and still aren't.
They are as old as "Bush's fault".

Wow!
I hear that is happening all over the place.
But I hear tell someone lost all of theirs from a tear in the space-time continuum it just swallowed up all their guns and ammo in an instant.

Dont you mean that revolvers and single shots are all that would be legal? :P A double action revolver would fall into the "semi-auto" category.
