According to the leaders of the global warming doomsday cult, the average surface temperature of Earth is 14 degrees Celsius (57.2 degrees Fahrenheit), but this is a new value which has quietly replaced the original average of 15 degrees Celsius (59 degrees Fahrenheit).
In March 1988, a few months before NASA's James Hansen asserted before the Congress that global warming was in progress, the New York Times quoted him as saying that he used 59 degrees Fahrenheit as the average global temperature to calculate the temperature variations.

In July of the same year, a report in the Connecticut-based newspaper The Day was consistent with this claim. According to the Day's report on Hansen's congressional testimony:

"Dr. Hansen informed the lawmakers that the first five months of 1988 were the hottest five-month period on record, averaging four-tenths of a degree above a 30-year (1950-1980) norm of 59 degrees Fahrenheit."

Although Hansen's recent publications provide his version of the differences from the base temperature for various years, he is careful enough not to provide either the observed temperatures or the value of the baseline temperature. However, Hansen at one time revealed his base value in an academic publication. That paper, "Climate Impact of Increasing Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide," appeared in Science in August 1981 and states:

All I know is that we had triple digit temps in the summer and now I have ice on the lake.

This sort of fudging is simply how the left treats all inconvenient facts. I am actually willing to accept that the earth may well be warming. One thing we know is that there have been many, many ice ages and the glaciation cycle seems to be part of earths nature. Like tides going in and out, any given epoch is either a warming phase or a cooling phase as each cycle repeats. We can only exist in a warming or cooling phase and, given the choice, I would happily chose a warming phase. Lucky me!

“Global Warming” became “Climate Change” -a very vague descriptor.
“Global warming” was supposed to give us warmer winters and hotter summers.
When that didn’t happen, they quietly did away with that talking point and started saying “Well, that apocalypse of snow that stomped us flat was because of global warming.”
When people correctly pointed out teh contradiction of ‘warming’ and ‘tons of snow crushing us and caving the roof in’, they came up with ‘climate change’.

Did you notice the title of the post? Did you RTFA? Is *EVERY* issue about Mormons?
First off a single glaciation cycle could last 40,000 years; 15 years or even 150 years means nothing. Second, I have no data to support your contention of a cooling phase nor do I have any data to support that this is a warming phase. I am prepared to stipulate to either not out of done sort of political correctness but simply to point out that it is immaterial as regards human causation.

..The world stopped getting warmer almost 16 years ago, according to new data released last week.
The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.
This means that the ‘plateau’ or ‘pause’ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years.

The new data, compiled from more than 3,000 measuring points on land and sea, was issued quietly on the internet, without any media fanfare, and, until today, it has not been reported.
This stands in sharp contrast to the release of the previous figures six months ago, which went only to the end of 2010 – a very warm year.
Ending the data then means it is possible to show a slight warming trend since 1997, but 2011 and the first eight months of 2012 were much cooler, and thus this trend is erased.

Some climate scientists, such as Professor Phil Jones, director of the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, last week dismissed the significance of the plateau, saying that 15 or 16 years is too short a period from which to draw conclusions.
Others disagreed. Professor Judith Curry, who is the head of the climate science department at America’s prestigious Georgia Tech university, told The Mail on Sunday that it was clear that the computer models used to predict future warming were ‘deeply flawed’.
Even Prof Jones admitted that he and his colleagues did not understand the impact of ‘natural variability’ – factors such as long-term ocean temperature cycles and changes in the output of the sun. However, he said he was still convinced that the current decade would end up significantly warmer than the previous two.
