It would no doubt be controversial, but the idea of dissolving the fiscally struggling city of Detroit and absorbing it into Wayne County is being tossed around in Lansing.
WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick reports some state Republicans are talking about giving the city the option to vote itself into bankruptcy. And mid-Michigan Senator Rick Jones said all options should be considered — including dissolving the city.
“If we have to, that is one idea we have to look at. We really have to look at everything that is on the table,” Jones said. “Again, if this goes to federal bankruptcy, every employee down there will suffer, the city will suffer and the vultures will come in and take the jewels of Detroit and they will be gone.”
Local consultant Tom Watkins has proposed this in the past, but the idea has never played well among Detroiters.
In a live interview on WWJ Newsradio 950 Wednesday morning, Gov. Rick Snyder said he wouldn’t count anything out.
“Detroit needs to solve their problems, but they need support and we’ve been very supportive partners, I believe, in terms of offering different ideas and thoughts. And I just encourage them to work harder about working better together,” Snyder said.

It worked for Kansas City Kansas and Wyandotte County. The city was absorbed into the county and they have been experiencing a boom. Lots of growth once the county and city quit fighting over resources. The city tried to revitalize the downtown and failed abjectly. Now however, the Legends, the Speedway, and all the stores surrounding that complex are providing huge tax revenues and the whole community is benefiting. Sadly they put in a casino downtown but happily the abortion mill is closed.

Restructure Detroit on the precincts and wards that voted 90% Bolshie. And, let Detroit run itself off the unproductive portion of their population, instead, of stealing from the productive.

The PLA could bivouac in some of those abandoned buildings and, of course, Detroit would no longer vote in state or national elections, only in their S.A.R.
The Canadians aren't stupid. They’re content to leave Detroit and its crime, drugs, and squalor to the American Democrats that deserve it.
When I read the title I thought they meant dissolving with acid or maybe a nuke.

This is the predictable outcome when a formerly vibrant community loses its sustaining economy, the productive citizens leave, and the only ones that remain are those who know nothing except collecting a check every two weeks.
Generation after generation after generation. Why bother with education, or any of the usual norms and responsibilities typical of a successful community, when someone else pays for all of your basic needs with no end in sight?
Need more money? Criminal activity pays well, especially the drug trade. And think how you’ll look in that new Escalade.
It’s way past time for the productive to fire the political elite who derive their power from the expansion of the permanently dependent class.
Otherwise, we can simply kiss off many of our once-proud cities, and simply let them become testaments to democrat rule.
Hmmm. If you are trying to dissolve the steel and concrete of the buildings I suggest a strong acid. On the other hand you'll need a strong base if you are looking to dissolve the population.
If you aren't part of the solution you're part of the precipitate.
