Barack? I Hope He Succeeds (in Going Over the Cliff)!

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: It is my contention to you the Democrat Party want tax increases for everybody. They're not gonna say so, but they do. Going over the cliff is a win. Obama gets to raise taxes, which, by the way, include tax increases on the middle class. You have to make a pretense of paying for the welfare state. He does want more revenue, but not to balance budgets. He wants more revenue to spend it so he doesn't have borrow as much. By the way, you know what's next folks? Keep a sharp eye. There are Democrats already talking about all the money collectively in everybody's 401(k)s. There are Democrats already talking about all the money that's in all these pension plans out there. The Democrat Party is already getting wide-eyed over the possibility of literally commandeering the funds in everybody's combined 401(k)s.

This cliff business is the tip of the iceberg. Their plans include far more than going over the cliff. They need the money for their welfare state. Their welfare state is what keeps them entrenched in power. Their welfare state, Santa Claus is what secures votes for them. The welfare state is what guarantees a permanent underclass, which they need. So we go over the cliff. It's a win. Everybody's taxes go up. You need that revenue, pay for your welfare state. In addition, what else happens? You get cuts in the military. You don't think the Democrats like that? The Democrats can't wait for military cuts, defense cuts. My whole life, that's the only thing they want to cut, and here it is just waiting for them. It's already done.

All we have to do is go over the cliff. Nobody has to even make a proposal. Nobody has to even offer legislation. Nobody has to even pass, much less vote, on anything. It's already there. Defense cuts, tax increases, it's there. It's their Christmas morning. They can see it. All we gotta do is go over the cliff. And as far as Obama's concerned, he gets to blame the Republicans for all of this after it happens. It doesn't matter if there's any real blame to give them or not, the way the media and the Democrat Party work in tandem, you know what's gonna happen. We go over the cliff, "Well, the Republicans didn't deal with us. Well, the Republicans wouldn't agree. Well, the Republicans objected. Well, the Republicans this."

Yeah. Folks, that's gonna continue happening no matter what the Republicans do until somebody comes along and figures a way to stuff that back down the Democrats' throats. Until somebody comes along and figures out how to stuff it back down the media's throats and the Democrat Party's throats, the Republican Party is gonna get blamed for everything no matter what they do. My point is Obama wants the cliff. But let's pretend that I'm wrong. And let's say that he really doesn't want to go over the cliff. Let's say that he really doesn't really want a recession in his second term. Let's say that I'm dead wrong. Then the way to handle that, the way to call his bluff on this is to not negotiate with him and leave it totally up to him what happens.

Very publicly walk away from the talks so that whatever happens vis-a-vis the cliff is perceived to happen -- well, the real point will be to flush Obama out. Find out. I would suggest to people who really believe Obama is concerned about his second term and his legacy, he doesn't want a recession, the only way to flush that out is to come dangerously close to allowing it all to happen, and the way you do that is by pulling out of the negotiations and offer no resistance. My only point is if the Republicans offer no resistance to what Obama wants, we'll find out just how willing he is to take the country over the cliff.

All I'm saying is, is that all these people saying he doesn't want to take us over the cliff, he's worried about his second term legacy, he doesn't want two million new unemployed, he doesn't want that written about him, let's find out. You can't find out by negotiating with him. Do that and you're gonna get played for a fool. That is my theory. Look, before the election, a number of us were of the belief that we're headed for a second recession anyway, a double-dip, right? Because of policies already in play and because of the reluctance to modify any of them to fix what harm they're causing. He'd love to be able to say that this coming recession is the fault of the Republicans. My point is he's going to anyway. My point is the Democrats are going to anyway.

So prove me wrong. I could be very wrong. Maybe Obama does care about his second term. Maybe he does care about his legacy. Maybe he doesn't want a whole bunch of new unemployment. Maybe doesn't want a recession. One sure way of finding out is to let him own this, let him take us wherever we're headed. He once said that the Republicans drove the car in the ditch, right? That we're not qualified to drive. Okay, fine. Take him at his word. We get out of the car, we'll pull it out of the ditch, put him in the driver's seat, we'll wave, and he'll see us in the rearview mirror as he heads toward the cliff. And we'll see if he stops or goes over. Do we have the courage to do that? I don't know that we'll ever find out, but that's what I would do. But I'm just a radio guy.

originalBREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Snerdley is saying, "Well, you stepped in it now."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I can see it now. You're gonna take your Christmas vacation. You're gonna be gone. Something's gonna happen. Whatever happens, you're gonna get blamed, and you're gonna be on vacation. The media is gonna be blaming you; Obama's gonna blaming you. It's gonna be: The Republicans failed to make a deal because they're afraid of you."

I said, "Wait a second! How can I be blamed? I am advocating for Obama to get what he wants. How can I possibly be blamed for that? I'm saying, let Obama take this country where he wants to take it. Let's find out where that is. 'Cause there are some people who still don't get it."

I think we are better off without a “deal” probably

Notice that no one in DC is even talking about actual spending cuts

I have never understood what is so hard about this. All the Republicans have to say is, “since Obama won the election we have decided to honor the bill he signed into law called the Budget Control Act of 2011. We do not think the country needs a long drawn out argument about a law President Obama signed just last year.”

There are three things President Obama wants:

1. To increase domestic spending
2. To raise taxes on the rich
3. To get Republicans to oppose 1 and 2 (at least initially) so that they can be blamed (along with Bush) for the upcoming recession

They will cut defense and embassy security, but overall spending will go up, they won’t even touch the rate of growth in 99% of government

Rush :”So prove me wrong. I could be very wrong.”

Well Rush is almost always wrong so no surprise there.

Obama is calling for extending some of the tax cuts.
But once they expire he will simply call for House Republicans to cut middle class taxes, already passed by the Reid Senate.(did it repeal the spending cuts?)

House Republicans walked into a trap almost identical to this a year ago on FICA with Rush's encouragement, and it resulted in total defeat and humilation for them.

Rush's business grows when Republicans lose elections. Dont doubt me.

Voting against tax cuts because your taxes will go up automatically is a losing position Rush. Be imaginative with suggestions for a change,
Now on repealing the automatic spending cuts I agree, I would let O worry about those and I dont hear him talking about it.

They like to talk about cutting the military because it looks good to the feminists and the inner city Democrat voters. The problem is, if you lay off a bunch of Soldiers, whose jobs are they going to take? A Soldier is easy to control. The Captain barks and the Soldier jumps. An out of work young man is hard to control. What does he have to lose? So he burns down his city and kills lots of people. He’ll go to prison where he gets fed and can lift weights and watch tv.

I have yet to be all that convinced that the GOP-E even want to avoid the cliff. I do believe, by now, they are in on the fix. There is no other way to explain their consistent retreat, piddling with the edges of the obvious problem but never firing on the target center.

Oh, me. Without some drama rising from some portion of the people, from some quarter, we are locking our own chains. Massive protests, nope. Check. Tax revolt, nope. Check. Business shutdown, nope. Check. Boycotting union products & manufacturing, nope. Check. Planning one damn thing, nope. Check.

We may deserve the cliff. Apathy, sloth, has consequences.

How much money would the government save if they didn’t issue any income tax refunds? The money has already been taken out of people’s checks, it’s not like they’d miss it. Let’s just try it for a year and see what happens. If that’s too much, how about a 50% reduction in refund check amounts? The country is hurting! Everyone has to help out!

We are already over the cliff and in free-fall. The planned destruction of free enterprise by the socialist democrats have methodically driven us over the edge and there is no way to redeem this corruption of our way of life. Yes, we may say, “We will move to a country where there is freedom.” But there is no other free country. Kruschev was right. We were corrupted from within. This is tragic in the extreme. Think of the despotism in the heart of Obama when he states to the Catholic Church, “You will pay for abortions, abortifacients, and birth control, in direct violation to you conscience.” What would Adams, or Jefferson, or Madison, or Payne have said to that tyrrany? What have we become?

People keep forgetting that these people created the “fiscal cliff” in the first place.

Now that we are living in a transitional communist country it’s high time all of the people who voted for Barack and those who didn’t vote at all experience the fruits of Obama mania. Let Armageddon begin.

It has to reach rock bottom before people learn Barack is a lying closet communist.

I do agree that we should could head long over the cliff if ZERO wants us to cave in to his demands. I completely disagree that we should offer nothing.

Instead, what we should do is pass in the House a poison pill piece of legislation that has everything the conservatives want. Mark Levin we keep all tax rates the same, except for the two middle class rates (which he proposes we cut), and let ZERO figure out how he’s going to cut the budget.

We need to pass a budget in the House that shows that the GOP wants to cut tax rates, shout from the mountaintops that that’s what they’re doing publicly, and then let ZERO shoot down tax cuts for the middle class. That would show he could care less about the middle class.

If they do nothing, the Republicans are going to be villified by ZERO, who will claim they did not vote to continue the middle class tax cuts because they wanted to continue giving tax breaks to their rich friends.

Our government’s profligate spending problem can be compared to our porous southwestern border.
The Democrats demand “action” (!) on both matters—they want more spending authorization and more tax dollars, and “comprehensive immigration reform” (*amnesty*), but refuse to take real steps toward addressing the salient problems: Cutting spending and sealing the border.
Until they do, the GOP-e should tell them to `get bent’, that those requirements are the sine qua non before the `rats receive any cooperation. But that’s asking a lot from them, our almost-French allies in Congress, the “loyal opposition”.
