The President lunched with a man whom he (or his proxies, same thing) had accused of causing a woman’s death of cancer. Do I need to list the epithets directed by Obama at Romney? What was that about?

I’ll tell you. It (the Presidential campaign) was about two Hahvahd buddies playing a game of pretending to disagree for the benefit of the naive TV viewers some of whom subsequently voted. A Hahvahd debating club. That was followed by an alumni luncheon at the White Hut.

I can understand why people were willing to pretend that Romney was OK after he became the only way to get Obama out of the White House.

But I do not understand how anyone can defend him NOW. Pro abortion, pro gay marriage, pro socialized medicine, pro big government.

Vicious when it came to fighting against conservatives, but wimpy when it came to fighting Obama. Now that it no longer matters, I can say that he didn’t even win that first debate. Obama lost it. But Romney didn’t really say anything all that memorable. He just stood there smiling and looking handsome while Obama screwed up.

No Romney ever fought for anything, excepting maybe Mormonism and money. They are marginalist, grinders, risk adverse, too little too late. Mitt won one election his whole life. He might well not of been reelected as he basically abandoned his
office half way in to advance on his primary true goal, the White House. Why? He had no political followers, he represented no particular political issue, his ghost books and statements were so empty, lifeless, vague as to be nothing. In his way, his run was very abusive to Republican voters. He asset stripped and leveraged the party like it was some poorly run company. Which the GOP is.

Team Romney and Karl Rove scammed millions of dollars from GOP donors and gifted it to the liberal media in advertising that didn’t work and a failed GOTV ORCA mobile application/operation. FAIL. FAIL. FAIL.

Funny that Matt Drudge, Team Romney's former BFF is pretending today's Romey-Obama lunch didn't happen.

Flashback...

“..Pro abortion, pro gay marriage, pro socialized medicine, pro big government...”

As I did for all of our candidates, I listened closely to his debates, his speeches and interviews. I read all of his position papers printed on his web page. I saw none of that which you say!

Not from me. They wont get a dime from me until A) They learn how to govern B) Prove they understand the constitution.

There’s nothing to defend about Romney now. I wish more people had voted for him simply because it would at least have cleared Jarrett and Axelrod out of the WH (in addition to the Boy King, of course), but he’s toast now. There was a rumor that Bambi was going to offer him some position, and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if he took it, just as one final kick in the teeth to us.

That said, he began running for Prez in 2008 (if not before) and bought, threatened or lied to eliminate anybody in his way. If we don’t want a repeat of this, letting some other rich RINO buy the position, we’ve got to start grooming a few good candidates now, so that there’s name recognition and a support base at the very outset. We shouldn’t spend our time tearing down candidates at the outset, especially with mindless invective, but should try to think who we would want and really do something about it. There are actually a number of possibles this time around, and I think several of them actually do want to run. (No more “Dream Candidates” who can’t even decide if they want to run until it’s too late!)

Anybody notice Republicans being set up to take the blame for Obama’s destruction of America?

As Governor, Romney gave us Gay marriage, and Romney/Obamacare, and Mitt is famously known for being pro-abortion, he committed to abortion in 1963, and even after he was nominated, he returned to his abortion position, and rejected the party’s pro-life platform.

"met in the White House's private dining room, fulfilling a promise Obama made in his victory speech the night of Nov. 6."

Wasn't Thursday working lunch in private dining room where Hillary and Obummer met?

Mitch McConnell and John Boehner have no gonads. They will surrender to Obama, Pelosi and Reid and the GOP will still be blamed for everything.

A lot of interesting comments on this thread, so far. I find the concept of Romney and zero getting together a little scary. zero is scary enough by himself but, add in some ideas from Romney that zero can pervert to screw us worse than we already are, and we REALLY have problems.

Ads far as the prospect of any more RINOs goes, that’s something we have to address with the RNC. They gave us Bob Dole, Bush 41 & 43, McLame and Romney. The fix for Romney was in before the campaign season actually kicked off.

AFAIC, if you want to eliminate RINOs, you have to start by gaining control of the RNC. And, the RNC only understands 1 thing - $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!! Stop sending them money and maybe . . . . . . . . MAYBE we can start getting decent, non-RINO candidates.

I actually voted for Romney, although it was a real moral question whether I should or not. But I decided that he was marginally more likely to undermine Christianity and kill babies than Obama.

Still, Romney went all the way in favor of abortion while he was governor. He included taxpayer funded abortion as “health care” in his socialized medicine, and he included a member of Planned Parenthood as an ex-officio member of the board of Romneycare.

I’m still not sure whether voting for Romney was allowable in good conscience, but I decided that I would do it, out of horror of more Obama. Anyway, not much chance that he would win Vermont.

But why people won’t admit NOW that shoving Romney down our throats was a terrible mistake is a mystery to me.

Not to sound mean..but all of the people that ran to his aide when he tried to destroy the other candidates, see what he really is. Obama and him together..for what! He just made OBama look like he was not all that bad of a person/leader. Romney looks foolish. In the article, Romney says, it was a day of closure. He let the party down and goes to thank Obama for a good campaign. Maybe, this was all set as some suggest.

I always thought the Romney campaign was a setup for Jeb Bush in 2016. Romney’s campaign advisors were all Bushies and Ken Mehlman RNC staffers. And remember the secret winter White House meeting with Obama, Bush 41 and Jeb Bush in Jan 2010?

Bingo. There is absolutely NOTHING to be gained by appearing conciliatory and compromising, so Republicans should go all out actually acting like - you know - Republicans.
