An historic Northern California oyster farm along Point Reyes National Seashore will be shut down and the site converted to a wilderness area, U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced on Thursday.
Salazar said he will not renew the Drakes Bay Oyster Co. lease that expires Friday. The move will bring a close to a yearslong environmental battle over the site.

Even Diane Feinstein pleaded to keep it open as it would have a ripple effect on the economy in surrounding areas if closed but it fell on deaf ears.
Yes it is a liberal area and have been thrown under the Obama bus,oh well voting has consequences.
She seems to have some pull....I'm guessing she gave a wink and a nod.

My 2 cents.
Obama does not listen to any of the old school dinosaurs, what he has achieved in the last 4 years they could not do in their lifetime. He looks down on them as weaklings he has no time for them.
So when i say she was shocked its because she actually thought she had a voice because of her seniority .
Get it?????
Once again, someone else, who is not elected, making decisions on your life!
Those were Inverness oysters, there is still the Tomales Bay Oyster Co., correct?
oysters were undoubtedly there first ~ what is it with these mexican overlords that they don’t appreciate nature ~ just cows and pigs alllatime .
Done properly, it leaves the water cleaner. Can't have that. Gotta justify regulations.
Well thanks....!!
He is going to fight the decision and has lots of Bay Area support -- which means tons of liberal Obama and environment lovers. But they do want their oysters. The company produces 40 percent of the oysters.
The information used to deny the owner was bogus and there is independent proof.
I am reminded of a case also in the Bay Area of citizens vs. federal bureaucrats (HUD). The courts said "When government officials violate citizens' clearly established First Amendment rights, however, we will not apply the doctrine of qualified immunity to defeat a remedy of damages to which the citizens are entitled under Bivens."
That was about citizens' free speech to oppose HUD.. this case is about citizens' rights not to be victimized by GS, SES, and appointed government employees' criminal acts.
