CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) Wyoming lawmakers will decide in coming months whether to follow a growing national trend and allow the use of silencers on hunting guns.

In Europe, the opposite approach has been common. Suppressors, silencers, gun mufflers, whatever appelation you wish to use, have been far easier to obtain than in the United States. In Finland, it has been ruled a constitutional right to make, trade, sell, and use suppressors.
The vast majority of the media consider "hunting weapons" to be "assault rifles"
How on earth is that going to play out?
I wish I had silencers on my guns years ago, my ears wouldn’t be ringing now. Every time I read about some one wanting to use a .45 for home defense, I wonder if they realize how LOUD firing it inside a home would be? Get the muzzle as far away from me as possible. I’ll take a shotgun everytime.
I would love to be able to buy a silencer for my .22. Then my neighbor would not need to get upset when the Sylvilagus Floridanus doubles over in pain and then dies.
Ditto.
I now consider muzzle brakes and comps to be the works of Satan.
I do, I do! I figure that under the stresses of a no shucks life-or-death situation, my aim *might* no be as good as I'd like.
I figure if I miss, the flash and noise will discourage the attacker.
And I don't plan on missing...
Mine just roll over and die.
Head shots. Head shots. Head shots.
I want silencers on handguns. First, they help protect hearing; second, they make using the gun less painful for the owner.
In understand that a few states allow silencers. Is that true? Of course, I am in NJ, which actually treats slingshots as assault weapons.
Beats me, I’m in California. I want a Judge...
Supressors are legal in most states actually.Cost you a tax stamp, but it’s worth it.We have a AWC for the MP5,really quiet. The brass hitting the ground make as much noise as the weapon. Also,I never knew how much noise the bullets make impacting the ground until we got the AWC.
If I had a .22 with a silencer there’s be less pigeons in the world.
Dad fired a .357 in the bathroom once. Once. (long story) Think about it, small room, lots of tile to reflect sound... Ouch.
Don’t deafen the elk....
I hope it was out an open window unless accosting some bad guy
Bugs bunny killer!
Somebody is going to have to explain to this actual hunter the need for silencers in hunting. On a given season deer hunting, one maybe two rounds come out of the box. What’s the point?
Out the window at a ground hog. Dad always said next time he’d take his time and rest his elbows on the windowsill and extend the muzzle outside... :-) But after that he always said the “cop shows” were nuts, after the typical shoot-out indoors, everyone would be deaf, they wouldn’t hold a normal conversation about where to chase down the bad guys next.
“You get caught poaching, and you don’t own a gun anymore.”
Surely you jest. Poaching in Wyoming? Nah.
One shot can permanently damage your hearing.
Oh, and then there’s the matter of liberty.
