House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who is Catholic, indicated on Friday that she supports forcing St. Marys Medical Center, the oldest continuously operating hospital in her San Francisco-based congressional district, to provide health plans to its workers that cover sterilizations, contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs free of charge even though the Catholic faith says this Catholic hospital may not do so because these things are intrinsically immoral.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebeliuswho, like Pelosi, is Catholicissued the sterilization-contraception-abortifacient mandate as a regulation under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, AKA Obamacare. The Catholic bishops of the United States have repeatedly argued, including in numerous lawsuits, that the regulation violates the First-Amendment-guaranteed right to the free exercise of religion by Catholics and Catholic institutions.

If the Catholic bishops have any integrity left, they will close all hospitals and schools and fire all employees rather than give in.
It does not even require balls just a conscience.

I am not Catholic but an Evangelical (who left Rome a few after after being born again), but yes, traditions RC’s certainly yearn to see it rigorously applied.
However, the hearers of the law look for its interpretation in how the preachers of it apply it, and what Rome effectually overall conveys is that faith in the power of the church will save souls who die Catholic, no matter how nominal, as she treats them as members in life and in death, as the example of Ted Kennedy illustrates. And thus it fosters nominalism , as do many Protestant churches.
Everyone in America should claim to be Muslim.
