Yes, and one would have though heroes like Bob Dole could have seen what he was doing in the legislative area. Newton Gingrich once called ol’ Bob “the tax collector for the welfare state.” But ol’ Bob wanted to be “popular.”

That seems to be a very widespread phenomenon - that everyone wants to be “popular.”

In this age of burgeoning Marxism, what that seems to mean in practice is that everyone in power plays to the idiots in the cheap seats, and joins in the chorus of those who want to rob the producing classes in order to offer handouts to the noisy mob.

As the evident history of the Twentieth Century reveals to anyone with a brain, however, it’s the case that once the producing class has been reduced to serfdom, the nation’s economy falls and the nation is reduced to penury such that everyone is thrown into poverty and the government imposes tyranny to maintain power while controlling the protests. All in the name of “the people” of course.

This will very soon be the lot of the United States, inasmuch as no one, it seems, is inclined to learn from the lessons of history.

But once the mob takes over the running of government, national idiocy becomes the norm.

And Obama and the Democrats have handed the running of our government over to our nation’s lowest common denominator - the nation’s idiots.
