Michigan Action Alert on Right To Work
12/2/2012 | T. Partee

Posted on 12/02/2012 7:19:34 AM PST by jenk

Hello All, I know it is the Christmas season and we're all tired after our exchange fight but we must press on!

THIS IS THE BEST SHOT TO PASS A RIGHT TO WORK LAW IN MICHIGAN.

IF OUR LEGISLATORS LOSE THEIR NERVE (or allow the powerful union lobby to get to them), it might slip away.

Our legislators know how important this is to Michigan's lagging economy. They've had the facts presented to them over and over. We don't need to explain why this is good for the citizens of Michigan anymore. Now is the time for them to ACT.

Reps are losing their nerve. There has been talk of a compromise bill - where police/firefighters are exempt, where it's only private sector etc...

Once again we need all hands on deck: 1. Our targets are Peter Pettalia - (517) 373-0833, PeterPettalia@house.mi.gov - yet to give a firm yes committment and Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville (517) 373-3543, SenRichardville@senate.michigan.gov

2. Be polite but firm. There will be consequences to voting against labor freedom or failing to get this done! We've waited the past 2 years....I am 100% convinced that in politics it is never the "right time" to do the right thing!

3. MAKE IT CLEAR: ANYTHING OTHER THAN A FULL RIGHT TO WORK BILL WITH LABOR FREEDOM FOR ALL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTABLE! When politicians compromise, it's the people that lose!

4. Make sure you mention that you are a union member/former union member if you've ever been forced into a union. They especially need to hear from union members that think Freedom to Work is a good thing!

Thanks! Love to you all! YOU made the difference in the healthcare fight! But Obamacare was easy (everyone but bureaucrats and special interest groups doesn't want that).

We need to double our efforts to get right to work passed!!

FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. CALLS, EMAILS, FAX - EVERY POLITICIAN YOU CAN, EVERYDAY UNTIL WE GET THIS DONE!

I don’t know anything about how Michigan legislation works, but can they get this on the ballot so the people can make the decision?

The Unions had two proposals that were defeated in November. Now, the Dems are going all out for this fight, and we have a RINO Governor who doesn’t want to have Right to Work. Once again, it’s the Republican-led House and Republican-led Senate that have to grow a pair and go against their Governor. Grassroots need to get busy.

Michigan UAW Member Demands Right to Work Law

I follow Terry Bowman on twitter. He's a pro union guy but obviously bright enough to recognize the need for choice.

Here’s my first email. Please feel free to copy and paste it to YOUR email! As I’m under the weather today, I may not have stated it as clearly as I could have, but I wanted to keep it short and to the point.

Got an email today Terry Bowman of Union Conservatives and I think Rattle with Us, has reserved a bus ( or two?) to get people aboard and go to Lansing Tuesday. I am booked, I can't.

The GOP would be well served to exploit the growing divide between public and private sector unions.

Thanks for posting, jenk. Another agenda-driven collective with THEIR hand in YOUR pocket. The government is bad enough.

BIG GOVERNMENT IS CRONY SOCIALISM! Unions?

This is why I can't stress enough that conservatives can't just fight the convenient battles. The enemy fights every battle and the ones we don't fight are guaranteed wins for them.

CC....

I disagree w/ going for the full enchalada at this time. I think Pay-Check Protection should be 1st, and I have met Terry and know close assoicates of his as well. They have listened to this (my) sentiment, however they have seem to have charted their course, for what reasons I don't know....

I’ve been emailing them everyday, even passed the addresses along to some non-union fellow employees. I think we need to focus on RINO Rick. I see him buckling. I know there’s been nothing to suggest it in the news, however, I believe he’d use any excuse to veto it. Looking up his link and will post it.

I know. I’m worried they will water it down to exclude damn near anyone in public unions and ruin it completely. Tea parties are putting on pressure to include police and fire unions, I can see the Republicans going the other way after getting throttled by union thugs.

I know what you mean. It was almost too good to be true that we got it through at all. My hope is that between the union thugs and their threats to the legislators not to pass anything, and the patriots and their demands for ALL unions to be included, maybe they’ll split it down the middle and just keep it as is. I’d be happy with that, even though I’d like to see ALL public unions included in this.
