Still I don’t know if that would work. New Oleans seems to still be “stuck on stupid. “

I could imagine the heirs of the patient owning the store and the parking lot if he had died.

Remember this is New Orleans. Standards of intelligence that apply to the rest of the world don’t apply here.

Convenience store employees allegedly put a restrictive parking boot on the ambulance. There are indeed some very stupid people in this world.

I would be surprised if LA didn’t have a law making interference with an emergency vehicle a criminal offense.
The guy whose trip to the hospital was delayed should own that convenience store.

Whoever booted that ambulance better pray that victim doesn’t die or they’ll be looking at manslaughter charges on top of the law suits.

It's a device that clamps onto the wheel/tire hub so that the tire can only rotate a small amount if at all.
They're made by many manufacturers so there are many types all working on the same principle.

“boot to the head” a wonderful old tune played by Dr. Demento.
To: bgill
It was in the store, that’s where the paramedics were when the ‘employee’ had the ambulance booted. You aren’t accepting just how totally stupid some people are.

“I can see a sick customer suing the hell out of this place. Johnny cashier is toast.”
Not only is the cashier “toast,” so is the owner of the establishment. According to the law, all the employees are “agents” of the employer and acting on his behalf (b/c the cashier was acting within the scope of employment). The owner is going to lose a lot of money if the victim can prove damages b/c of the delay in calling for a second ambulance.
In English this means the owner is a putz.

Why are we surprised. Our own Goast Guard more or less did the same thing to ships trying to save the gulf from the impact of the BP oil spill - making those without proper life preservers stop sucking up oil. This is the government bureaucratic mentality - even though this time it was exhibited by a private sector entry level employee.

I think it is actually pronounced “Nah-leans” or somethings similar when New Orleans is spoken with a mouth full of feces or grits.
