A man is in custody after deputies said he picked the wrong house to burglarize Wednesday.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said Jason Hawk broke into a home in the 7000 block of Glendale-Milford Road just before noon, but was discovered when the homeowner returned.

I wonder if any study has been done about tire shooting, as far as caliber, distance, and angle? Granted some things are obvious, like shooting the side instead of the tread.
I have never seen much point, in that if you could shoot the tires, there are probably much better targets.

The criminal was outside the house and fleeing. The homeowner better hope that the county prosecutor is friendly because you can't shoot at someone in Ohio unless you feel that you or someone else is in immediate danger.
A concealed carry permit is not the same as a criminal hunting license.

For what it’s worth, the story seems to say that in the process of defending himself he shot several times and inadvertently hit the tire. I would be surprised if the tire was what he was aiming at.

I’ve seen a steel belted radial, shot with a .22, return the bullet back in the direction it came. Landed right beside me in the gravel, after what must have been a high arc given the time lag between shot and landing, when a “responsible adult” next to me had shot the old tire in the tread.
Not sure if thats normal but it sure nuff happened once.
