Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming believes President Barack Obama is "comfortable going off the [fiscal] cliff."
"I think the president is increasingly showing his hand that he is comfortable going off the cliff," Barrasso tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD, in response to a question about President Obama's negotiation strategy. "He’s not involving Republicans in the process. He was playing golf this weekend with Bill Clinton, Ron Kirk, and ex-DNC chair Terry McAuliffe. He’s not seeming to be one to work together. He seems to be lecturing more than listening. And I just think that it’s increasingly clear he's comfortable going off the cliff."
The Republican senator believes Obama's posture is being reinforced by bad advice he's getting from some of his fellow Democrats. "[T]hat’s what he’s being advised to do by a number of his Democratic colleagues—Howard Dean, former chairman of the DNC said they should go off the cliff, Patty Murray, who ran the senatorial committee, said they should go off the cliff," says Barrasso in a phone interview, referring multiple times to Obama’s weekend golf outing with Democratic stalwarts.
Barrasso thinks Obama should be working on getting a deal with the Republicans in Congress instead of spending his weekend on the golf course with such partisans.
Additionally, Barrasso believes Obama's willingness to go off the cliff relates to his view of achieving fairness through the tax code.
"The president is so fixated on higher taxes that he’s giving up on [the prospect of] a healthy economy. We’re going to see unemployment over 9 percent in this second recession, I believe, if the president doesn’t work together to find a bipartisan solution," says Barrasso.

Why wouldn’t he? He thinks he can do it, reap the rewards, and then blame the Republicans for it.

Well, the GOP should be blamed! The GOP Establishment foisted Romney upon us and sandbagged genuine conservatives such as Sarah, Sharon Angle, Christine O’Donnell, and Todd Akin.
Furthermore, the House has the power of the purse. The answer is simple. Pass a balanced budget, shut down the government, and keep it shut down until the Senate and President Obama surrender.

Fundamental flaw in this man's thinking.
Yes, Obama is fixated on higher taxes -- but, No, the prospect of a health economy is the one thing he has been steadfastly trying to kill. He wants it all to go to smash. Certainly the cliff calls to him.

Let’s see who gets hurt most if it goes over the cliff. Lower income people, the 50% that don’t pay taxes won’t be hurt much except the 2% increase SS taxes or at most some would be pushed into the 10% tax bracket. Middle class will just go back to where they were before. A little hurt but not devastating. High income earners will hurt some but not significantly going back to the old rates. Defense contractors, the ones that funded the Food Stamp President, will be devastated because most of them are worthless non-essentials anyway. On the entitlement side, the cuts are what should be cut in the first place. Additionally, they can pass the tax cuts on Dec 31, 2013 and make them retroactive back to Jan 1, 2013. The Jan 1, 2013 deadline is a fake to try to pressure the conservatives into giving up early. Additionally, they ought not to raise the debt ceiling.
The GOP needs to start assaulting the media with trash talk. Get the public’s attention with trash talk. That’s the only way to enlighten people these days.. Just come out and call them “Effing LIARS”, “0bama WHORES”, “CORRUPT JUST LIKE THEIR BOSS, 0BAMA” etc..
I think if George Soros went over a cliff, that would really put a monkey wrench into 0bama’s devastating successes. The media can crash and burn too for all I care. They are the DEVIL.
