Russia To Deploy Combat Troops Near Norway
Examiner ^ | November 29, 2012 | By Kevin Brent

The Russian Navy's Northern Fleet announced yesterday the permanent deployment of the 200th Motorized Brigade of the Russian Army adjacent to the Norwegian border. It is the first of two brigades to be permanently assigned to the Northern Fleet and placed under the overall command of Vice Admiral Vladimir Korolev. This development is not only significant for the size of the formation itself and where it is being deployed, but also for the composition of forces within the brigade.

Current Russian military commanders like their Soviet Era predecessors take the 'combined arms' warfare approach to force composition and structure with elements of all warfare specialties included in a 'mixed bag' forces able to address multiple threats in any area of operations it may be assigned to. NATO and U.S. forces also practice this doctrine and coined the phrase 'joint operations' rather than 'combined arms'. Both however are descendent developments of German mobilized formations designed around Blitzkrieg warfare in WWII.

Maybe this deployment is to prevent the escape of other Russian army units?

Obama’s response...

“Fore!”

It’s probably a response to all those Norwegian illegal aliens.

Will they go on from victory to victory like their Soviet Era predecessors with the tacit approval of a Democrat President?

Obama vacillates between channeling Wilson, then FDR, and then Carter in any order.

I hate to mention this, but we are broke. Not only that, but our military is being destroyed by endless deployments in futile operations in the Middle East. So, how on earth could the US do anything about what Russia or China or any other country is doing? We are finished as a power, and even if we were not, what would you propose we do when some country pimps with Norway? Are we responsible for defending every country on earth? Most of these countries would not pee on us if we were on fire. Let them defend themselves for a change.

Russia is working toward being able to what NATO can do only quicker and better. Look for more European nations to express dissatisfaction with NATO, and to reduce participation.

VADM Korolev is a vocal proponent of combined arms forces and operations. His background is in Nuclear Submarines and ASW.

This unit has had disciplinary problems and had a commander relieved in the last year. I’m not sure that the unit is even up to its established strength or if it could participate effectively in combat operations. Russian military forces may look impressive on paper, but there are severe infrastructure, equipment, and logistical issues.

Maybe the Russians intend to liberate Norway from the socialist/communist left and drive out the Muslims.

“War to the hilt between Communism and Capitalism is
inevitable. Today, of course, we are not strong enough
to attack. Our time will come in 20 or 30 years. To
win, we shall need the element of surprise. The
bourgeoisie will have to be put to sleep. So we shall
begin by launching the most spectacular peace movement
on record. There will be electrifying overtures and
unheard-of concessions. The capitalistic countries,
stupid and decadent, will rejoice to cooperate in
their own destruction. They will leap at another
chance to be friends. As soon as their guard is down,
we will smash them with our clenched fist.”

— Dimitry Z. Manulsky, to the Lenin School of
Political Warfare, 1931.

The USA can't go broke. People have been saying we are broke all my life. Wake up.

Our military is not being destroyed, but battle hardened. Our military losses in Iraq and Afghanistan have been negligible.

Norway is a NATO ally and an attack on Norway is an attack on the USA.

NATO is the most powerful military force in the world.

More likely it is punishment or the desire to move the Brigade away from Moscow.

Norway has less than a hundred thousand muslims, around 2% of the population. Russia has around 23 million muslims, about 14% of the population.

Moscow alone has over two million muslims, over twenty times as many as the whole of Norway.

Maybe Russia should work on driving out its own muslims before they "rescue" Europe.
