CHICAGO (CBS) – Al Phillips wants to know why a Chicago police officer shot his dog while writing a traffic ticket outside his house.

“My neighbor called and told me I was getting a ticket on my van. When I opened the fence, my puppy ran out. That’s when I heard two gunshots and the officer shot my dog,” Phillips said.

The 7-month-old Bull Terrier miniature puppy survived but had a bullet in its leg and fragments in its abdomen.

“Oooh.. a pit bull. Didn’t see that coming.”

No, if you read the first few lines of the article you will see that it isn’t a pit bull. It is a bull terrier puppy, probably a Staffordshire bull terrier.

There are about a dozen different `bully’ breeds. Of course the journalist who wrote the article probably knows about as much about dogs as he does about guns, (”They’re all AKs...”) so he made the same mistake you made in failing to identify the dog breed.

I have an American bulldog and he looked a lot like the photo I posted at post 6 when he was seven months old. If we don’t defend the bully breeds, cops will be shooting nice chocolate labs next.

My attitude about the issue is (I think) fair enough: Don’t level a gun at my dog and you won’t look down my gun barrel.

That would be taking the low road instead of the high road.
But that seems to be normal these days.

The low road was hiring cowards who are afraid of puppies to work as cops who are too stupid to know that firing a gun in a populated area can kill someone. So, since we’re already on the low road, might as well save some dogs.

This SOP makes sense when you realize that our government has been co-opted by an islamic cabal. muslims are calling the shots and muslims hate dogs.

This should become a national outrage, but of course that will never happen. Not in the land of America.

If the gun did not have a Police Officer as an owner, the puppy would not have been shot. Cops are the problem, not the gun or the puppy..........

Cops used to be real men, now their number 1 concern is going home without a scratch. It also indicates how low the qualifications have fallen to become a cop. Anyone who feels so threatenened by a small dog that he can only defend himself by gunfire is a poorly trained coward with lousy judgement. He is a menace to the community.

And there you have hit on the root of the problem. Standards were lowered to almost non-existent in the 1980s to allow more of a certain protected minority access to gubmint jobs and pensions. Don’t know what this POS looks like but I can almost guarantee you he would not have been a cop prior to about 1980.

They wouldn’t even let him be dog catcher after that. (Dog catchers have to have more self control.)

I could foresee a new class of attack animal: the house cat. It is difficult, but by no means impossible, to train them. And they can do some vicious damage.

I’d rather run into a pibble over a housecat any day of the week (and yes, this miniature puppy was not a pibble).

As a dog owner all my life, a cop who shot my dog would be just as dead seconds later.

Little wonder the country is falling apart when we have done away with hiring the most qualified and are now hiring on the basis of diversity. The hiring, promoting and electing of officials based on AA has led to the near collapse of all our major institutions.

“Then they returned to ticket the owner for an unleashed dog? It’s unbelievable.”

That’s Chicago. If the cops violate your rights, and you complain, that’s when the retaliation begins, to teach you a lesson for daring to think that you have rights.

“But lets call it what is: Terrorism.”

Yes, and let’s be frank. They’re shooting the dogs mainly because they can’t get away with shooting the citizens so easily. Yet.

I don't even know why this is news anymore.

People should just assume that anytime a cop shows up anywhere, a dog is going to get shot.
