Majority of young voters wants bigger government
Daily Caller ^ | 11/28/12 | Daily Caller News Foundation

Nearly 6 in 10 young voters support bigger government — a worrisome statistic for conservatives who want to increase their presence on college campuses and among the under-30 crowd.

According to the Pew Research Center, 59 percent of young voters think the government should do more — something only 44 percent of all voters support. On government-run healthcare, the most popular policy preference among young voters was to expand it.

Young voters were also far more likely to identify as liberals and members of the Democratic Party than older generations.

For young conservative activists, making inroads on college campuses will be no easy task.

“The rise in young people embracing paternalistic government comes as no shock,” said Gabriella Hoffman, a field coordinator for the Leadership Institute, in an email to The Daily Caller News Foundation. “Most have developed contempt for free enterprise and limited government from their college professors who inject anti-free market, socialist and even Marxist views into their lectures.”

Students with non-liberal views need to fight back, or be drowned out entirely, she said.

“If students don’t expose this bias and bombard their campuses with alternative viewpoints, then more young people will become slaves to the government.”

The youth vote was instrumental in achieving President Barack Obama’s re-election, according to Pew. Obama beat Mitt Romney by 24 points among voters under 30 year of age.

The sad part it the next generation will be even less self-reliant & responsible for their lot in life.

They want everything but unwilling to earn it.

Don’t worry. IF they don’t die, they will grow up. Well most of them, if they aren’t crack heads, that is. Then you can just hope those will be too stoned or lazy to vote.

As you can see, hope is not a strategy upon which we can rest.

As a Gen Xer, I'm distraught over how abysmal our education system has become. This headline is a direct result of the last 60 years of liberal indoctrination spewed from our schools.

This is unsustainable.

Currently our country is being funded from Chinese who work in factories 12 hours for five dollars a day so that spoiled Americans can get their birth control for free, or hang out on street corners with their ObamaPhone.

Do you think the Chinese will wish to continue this path forever?
Nope, in another generation it’ll might be Americans working for slave wages so some spoiled Chinese brat can have their government give them their free phone.

Then get out the vote. :) Volunteer to be in places where you can talk to people about their politics and don’t stop rattling the cages of the liberals. The only way things are going to change is if people get out there and walk this stuff out in real life.

This is where older Societies got something right; The Coming of Age ceremonies and other Passages into Adulthood.

We've kind of lost that. There is no real "kick in the arse" that sinks in the idea that you are now an Adult and are Responsible for yourself. That if you fail, ain't no one coming to your rescue.

So now, we have the last couple "generations" that are going through an extended "I need my Mommy" phase and are looking for that surrogate in Government.

A fact that those who make their living in Government are only to happy to take advantage of.

No surprise. Ninety percent of them grow up in government-run indoctrination centers. In 2013, we celebrate the centenary of the triumph of the Progressive Movement: The 16th and 17th amendments, and the Federal Reserve. In 1918, the last resisting county in America was forced to establish a government-run indoctrination center.

A prosperous economy with many high paying job offers will create ground support for free market capitalism. When the GOP trusts CEO’s and Wall Street bankers too much, and these men decide free trade, globalism and race to lower labor costs by using Chinese labor costs as the blunt instrument, or create scams that leave few running away with the money and everyone else holding the losses after it implodes, ground support for GOP concept of free markets and trust of capitalists start to wane. College age kids saw their Dads lose jobs several times as CEO’s move jobs overseas, merge, import foreign laborers during the Clinton and GOP regulation era, and taxes were kept low compared to GDP. Taxes and regs play a small role during that era yet real wages of office and tech workers stagnated (these were the high paying jobs that will replace factory union ones). The middle class eventually was trapped in the lower your wages or the Chinese worker takes your job syndrome. Firing workers several times in their career, and force them to take the same job in new companies at 1/3 less starting salary because they are old, or they were hired not for the main skill he had, but rather skills he acquire under the old company as other duties, now must endure lower pay and trial period to prove himself has impact on his family psyche on free market (kids had to endure a Xmas under austerity). It is no surprise that Americans are considering socialism vs free market capitalism after seeing their parents undergo disruption in their careers due to free trade and seeing Wall Street bailed out and taxpayers stuck with the bill. Problem under capitalism of the last 30 years is CEO’s and Wall Street bankers thought they can do whatever they want and not suffer from political consequences of their thoughtlessness. Old Asian saying - rulers are a boat, and the people are the sea. If the boat rocks too hard, the sea will sink the boat. Corporate America and Wall Street bankers have ruled the US too long and rocked society with globalism and free trade, society is reacting with socialism as a backlash. The next time the GOP comes back to power, keep an eye on Wall Street and the CEO’s, they are the ones that can destroy the stability in this country and provide the means for the Dems to regain power.

Ask these 6 two questions. 1 - how much do you make each week? 2 - are you willing to pay 90% of this in taxes?

The article is full of crap. They equate “Young Voters” with “Students on College Campuses”. Unless i’m missing something, there are a lot of “Young Voters” who do not attend college.

The real divide in this country is not between the rich and poor. It is between those who earn their money from voluntary sources and those who get theirs from people against their will.

Yes, its a repost but its my meme for the evening
