Most Young Voters Actually Want Bigger Government
Business Insider ^

Posted on 12/05/2012 6:05:43 AM PST by TigerClaws

Nearly 6 in 10 young voters support bigger government — a worrisome statistic for conservatives who want to increase their presence on college campuses and among the under-30 crowd. According to the Pew Research Center, 59 percent of young voters think the government should do more — something only 44 percent of all voters support.

They never added up how much Mommy and Daddy paid in tax, in total, over their lifetime so far. Hundreds of thousands that could have still been in their family, in Mommy and Daddy’s hands. The chillins could have had a good start with all that dough. Or the family could have lived high off the hog. They might not have turned into a (evil, right ?) rich family, but the would have been at least a very comfortable family, all with Mommy and Daddy having the same jobs, just keeping more of what they make ! But, instead, their Congressman got it, and paid it out to all sorts of people bleeding the government treasury, in exchange for enough votes from Mommy and Daddy’s generation to stay in office.

And now the dopey kids are still voting the same way and not even thinking about the fact that they are being set up to pay much more to the Congressman for the rest of their lives.

They either come to their senses when they get older or they join the chorus and blame evil rich people.

Conservative, Moderate, Christian and otherwise decent parents continue to lie to themselves and say “my kids school is different.” So they send their kids to public school and are somehow surprised when they grow up to be godless socialists. I don’t care if you live an affluent, suburban neighborhood in Dallas or Provo or Indianapolis, or small town Kansas or rural Arizona. Every - Yes EVERY public school is filled with socialism, social justice, and secular humanism. If you are a parent you have to remove your kids from government schools if you care about their future mindset. If you are an educator you have to leave the government system and become a part of the good and growing alternatives for parents. If you are a pastor you have to be blunt with your congregation about the effects that public schooling WILL have on their children.

Brainwashing and Liberal propaganda has been in our public schools since 1980 or earlier. In my opinion and that of many, we are suffering from decades of brainwashed Liberals thanks to the NEA and Big Brother.

Causes of this shift? My proposed list:

1. The deliberate Long March of Marxism through the country’s institutions, especially academia and the media, accelerated by the Marxist-fomented cultural revolution ushered in during the 1960s, especially the women’s liberation movement and the rise of marijuana use.

2. The elimination of child labor laws.

3. The spoiling effects of their parents’ materialism.

4. The spoiling effects of their parents’ abdication of traditional parental roles, in favor of their own narcissistic needs.

I think this data proves the point that conservatives need to spend some these jillions of dollars wasted on campaigns on educating the youth. The media is the only real winner in these lengthy and expensive election times. Let's find a way to channel some big bucks into educating and informing the public, the young in particular, on the US Constitution and conservative values.

Agreed. Their attitude is 180 degrees out of phase with the rest of us. As that young cretin at Obama’s victory rally put it, “Government is not the problem, Government is the Help!” And it appears they want to take all the “help” they can possibly get their hands on.

More concerning is there ambivalent “take it or leave it” attitude as to whether Capitalism should be our preferred economic system.

the problem is they have the vote. Increasingly I believe that just giving people the "right" to vote without them having done anything to prove themselves citizens

The voting age should be 25+ and should be conditional on having spent a year or two for the community -- maybe the military, maybe helping poor, maybe painting government buildings.

Think back to the 50s and 60s. Young people from back then simply assumed they would have to work and support themselves. Young people today don't necessarily think that.

There's nothing better than fear to get you up and looking for a job..

Ditto. The gov. brainwashing factories are pumping them out in numbers that are making it impossible for us to catch up. This is why we are doomed. No one has a solution for the source of the problem - our gov. schools.

And you, my dear friend, are indeed the rare one - because most NEVER come to their senses like you did. Because after the schools are done dumbing them down and blinding them to truth, the media takes over and continues to keep them deceived. The media and their dumbed-down, blind peers.......

Honestly, I think that voting rights should be limited to those who pay taxes in, and do not work for the government in any way.

This article is exactly why NO BUSINESS should Employ ANYBODY under 40 that went to a Public School, they should immediately purge their companies of these spoiled, entitled, brats and tell them not to worry, they voted for Obama anyway, which should be enough to demonstrate they are not worthy of representing your company as an employee.

"most NEVER come to their senses"

I'm a little more optimistic than that. All it tooke for me was a few pay checks, followed by a couple of Income tax returns. Granted, I filled out my own tax returns and saw what I was actually spending. The ones hardest to reach are the ones who only see their tax refunds and do not understand their payments.

I agree with you in the general idea, but I see some problems:

1. to those who pay taxes -- what about the retired or stay at home moms?

who do not work for the government -- now this is good, but there is the complexity that there are companies that may have a small investment by the government -- say 1% owned by a state or so, is that working for the government -- this point can be specified/clarified

Stay at home Moms, depends. If they are truly stay at home Moms, not on state assitance, then yes.

Retired: Again depends. If you collect a state check (SS or Medicare), then no. You have a vested interest in getting more money from the State. Human nature means you will vote for more of other peoples money.

Same with the business or farm. If you are State owned or paid a subsidy, then no. Including the employees of the farm or firm. Again, you will start to vote for more of your fellows money.

Yes, I am a barbarian today. Been off coffee for a couple of months now and it makes me a little more angry.
