You got that right. I am sick and tired of ‘Fair and Balanced.’ All the television broadcasts - network and cable - are in for some serious competition soon. I have a Bluetooth wireless receiver that displays internet television just as well as the cable box. What we need is a ‘Heartland News Network’ — a seriously conservative 24/7 internet news source broadcast from outside the Eastern corridor with nothing but the conservative point of view. It will take off like a bullet if someone does it.

It's been tried. A key player behind the Moral Majority tried it actually. The late Paul Weyrich Founder of Free Congress Foundation and Co-Founder of The Moral Majority tried it back in the early to mid 1990's. It was called National Empowerment Television or N.E.T. Weyrich hosted a few shows as did Major Garrett, Bill Lind, John Lofton, Janet Parshall, Genvieve Woods, Armstrong Williams, Alan Keyes radio show was broad-casted on it as was Michael Reagan, and many more persons. It was Conservative based programing and had many guest. Stories like White Water were also discussed with key GOP lawmakers.

The network soon was having trouble meeting the bills to stay on the air. Also Weyrich was doing some serious exposing of wrong doings within the GOP itself aimed at persons like Trent Lott whom at one time was a friend of Weyrich. In short big toes got stepped on and rightfully so. There was a behind the scenes take over that basically removed Weyrich as the head of NET and at that point it became America's Voice which was a fore runner to Fox News for all practical purposes. Only rather than hearing Armstrong Williams you had to listen to his co-host Ellen Ratner. Other Liberals were soon added including Bob Beckell. The quality quickly sank and the hard hitting stories got water downed. Weyrich had no say in the programing and the network soon shut down as I imagine certain factions intended it to do.

I'm not saying it can't be done. But it will take some serious consistent monetary backing from sources that won't pull the monetary plug when big toes get stepped on in Establishment DC. That is what happened to NET.

I'd like to see it happen myself. Weyrich had a great idea. But Weyrich wasn't a man anyone could own or silence either. There are still great Conservative commentators out there. The problem is getting them into a venue where they can be heard as well like in the case of N.E.T. the viewers themselves have a live voice. Paul Weyrich had a show called Direct Line I think was the name and he took calls. If for example Bob Barr was the guest you could ask Bob Barr a question live.
