House Speaker John Boehner emerged Wednesday from a meeting with fellow Republican congressional leaders and urged President Obama to meet face to face on solving the countrys looming fiscal crisis or send a deal to Congress on which both chambers can agree.
We need a response from the White House, said Boehner, who sent a proposal Monday to the White House. We can't sit here and negotiate with ourselves. If the president doesn't agree with our proposal and our outline, I think he's got an obligation to send one to the Congress.
The president and congressional Republicans are at a stalemate on how to check the countrys rising $16 trillion debt and to reduce its budget deficits, which have topped $1 trillion for several straight years. The president has so far insisted on raising tax rates for the countrys highest earners and appears willing to make cuts to entitlement programs. Republicans have called for changes to the tax code to boost revenue, instead of tax rate increases, along with bigger spending cuts.

Is the Constitution not clear, Mr. Crybaby?
He’s gonna’ cave in, so why doesn’t Boner cut the crap and cave already. What a jerk! Are we supposed to be impressed by his pre-cave-in dance? Cave already . . . we know what you are, Boner!
It is clear that Obama does not respect Boehner and that Boehner has no idea what to do.
They need to adjourn for the Christmas holidays:o)
The best the Republicans could do for the American public, is to go home immediately. turn the lights out.
The problem is to stop the spending, not kill our own.
John wants this wrapped up quickly so he can check on his Swiss bank accounts.
Bendover Boehner readies his jar of Vaseline.
Obviously you didn’t read the article. If you had read it you would have seen that Boehner is strictly against raising taxes and you would have read that there are some republicans in name only who find nothing wring with raising taxes
I just don’t get this ridiculous hating on Boehner. If someone has an alternative strategy, I’d love to hear it.
1) Walk away. Go over the false crisis called the “ciff.”
2) Bend Barry over hard on the debt ceiling.
Obama will cave. He can’t afford to have his 47% pay any taxes and he certainly can’t afford for anyone to find out we can in fact live if DC is shut down.
Call the bluff Boehner. You’re getting blamed no matter what happens. Make Obama bite the pillow.
There isn’t a damn thing Boehner can do. The Dems have the Senate AND the Presidency. The President is a pr*** and doesn’t give a damn.
He did give them feedback..called it fairy dust I think.
I basically said the same thing. ANYONE in Boehner’s position would be in the exact same position with the exact same choices....which he doesn’t make...Same ole....kill the messenger.
So what should Boehner do? And what should he present that the Senate will sign AND the President will sign.
I'm old enough to remember when the Democrat Party ran the entire U.S. government structure from the House of Representatives.
For 40 years.
He could wage a half way competent P.R. campaign. That’s what politicians are supposed to be good at after all.
The way he’s going Republicans will end up hating him and Americans will hate the Republicans.
